What are your recommendations?

My surgery is scheduled for Dec 9th and I'm super excited. I'm having RNY and wanted to hear from other RNY people what Vitamins and Calcium brands you are taking what kind? liquid? chewable? gummies?

Also, since malabsorbtion is an issue with RNY, how often are you having to take Vitamins? Once a day? More than that?

I look forward to your input!!

I take Flintstones Complete chewables twice a day, and Bariatric Advantage calcium citrate chews three times a day... keeping everything spaced out by 2+ hours. I just had my three month blood work and everything looks good - might have to back off on Iron a bit.

I use Centrum chewables twice a day. Also use the Bariatric Advantage calcium citrate chews. But I let them dissolve. After surgery, before I left hospital, my surgeon gave me prescriptions for Iron, B-12, B-1, Vitamin C and calcium citrate with D. I didn't start the calcium chews til I ran out of the prescription Calcium citrate. They also gave me a sample schedule to use which was very helpful. The hospital gave me a pill crusher. My surgeon's office said not to worry about starting Vitamins for 14 days. They wanted me to just focus on drinking my fluids and Protein. I found it was easier for me to fill ice cube trays with broth and sugar free Jello. Two cubes was two ounces. I would have two ounces of broth or Jello three times a day and didn't drink liquids a half hour before or after my meals. I found this stage easy because I got into the routine. Every surgeon is different but I found a lot do recommend the two ounces three times a day. Oh. And sugar free Popsicles were great to break up monotony. They count as a liquid. Also really liked lemonade flavor of Vitamin Water zero for when you get tired of plain Water. It's made with stevia and works better for me as I am sensitive to Aspertame. It gives me headache.

I wish you the best of luck !!! It has been a whole new learning experience and I am so happy I did it. I am 6 months out and 82 lbs down.

Hi. I take Bariatric Fusion Orange flavor. 2 chewable wafers twice per day. That's all I have to take with this brand. I wanted to keep it simple for the first few months. Only two weeks out, so no blood work results as of yet.

I take Bariatric Advantage chewable essentials - they come with Iron and without (I don't need the iron) - Mine are a fruit flavor and I really like them. I take them twice a day and they cover all my needs except the Calcium. I take their calcium chewables - I have the chocolate flavored ones but will probably move to another flavor when I'm done with the ones I have. I take the 500 w/ vit d3 two times a day and that covers my needs.

I take Flintstones complete chewables twice a day and 600mg calcium citrate with Vitamin D twice a day. I make sure to take them at least 2 hours apart. I also take a Vitamin B12 tablet that dissolves on my tongue once a day with my Multivitamin in the morning.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
