Oh my time goes by so fast! 5 months ago I had my sleeve surgery 8/10/2015 and I don't regret it one bit. It's been the best thing I have done for me.

It's a commitment and I knew since I had my surgery that the sleeve was only a tool and I have to put my effort to make it work. Weigh in today is 187 lbs and wearing a size14 in jeans and size large blouse compared to size 20-22 in pants and 2xl blouses.

I've lost a total of 66 lbs so far! I have another 37 lbs and if it takes another 5 to 7 months to get there I will be ok. attachicon.gif ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1452471949.385328.jpg

You look fabulous. Congrats on the loss. I'm down 64 from my highest of 260. I'm in a 14 also from an 18-20. Hard to believe!

Just checking in. Hope you are doing well. I had a terrible eating say yesterday. I ate bread twice...ugh. I'm not beating myself up about it though. It was one day and today I'll do better. Thankfully we are visiting family and there is no scale in sight. I can only guess that I'd be up 1 to 3 pounds.

Thankfully we are visiting family and there is no scale in sight. I can only guess that I'd be up 1 to 3 pounds.

Good morning I'm doing good.. I'm drinking my cup of coffee it's really good ???????? don't beat up yourself on eating those pieces of bread just remember to go back on making good choices. It's really hard to stick every single time on eating right.

I started eating more fruits. I had some clementines, strawberries, and apples this last week. I been staying away from the fruit cause I love fruit and I know they are good however they have a lot of sugar. So I been staying away from my favorite fruit like mangoes, watermelon, pineapples. I'm not a big bread eater so I don't have an issue with sweet stuff.

I also started eating a Protein Bar, I like the Quest bars - I bought the strawberry cheesecake and raspberry with white chocolate. Both are good and they do fill me up.

Enjoy your time visiting your family!

Happy to report I'm still 195. I didn't gain but I didn't lose either. Hoping this week to be able to get atleast 3# off. The dr wants me to lose another 30 to 40# in the next 4 months. I see that as almost impossible since most months I'm only losing 5#. Being a slow loser sucks but atleast it's coming off. You are so lucky not to be a big bread eater, I'm ok with regular sliced bread, but it's the heavy Italian or french breads and things I can't avoid. I will be trying much harder now though. I like my fruits too. Especially cantaloupe and pineapple, they are my favs. I avoid fruit most times too because of the sugar. But every once in awhile is ok. Hope you have a great day.

Well just wanted to give a quick update I'm up 2lbs from last time I weight on 1/10 - today I'm 189 lbs little disappointed, but I just think I need to change things since my weight is been stuck for couple of weeks. I will keep up with my 3 mile walks every day, however I will start doing 40 min workout during my lunch hour at work. I believe tomorrow is spinning will see how it goes.

My eating have been good, I put in all the Protein needed between 70-90 grams, Water between 70-80 oz however I do see carbs have increase to 60-70 grams, but they are usually from Beans, vegetables , yogurt and flaxseed. I'm going to stop eating beans at least for a while cause I been eating them with every meal, I used to have 1/4 cup per meal but now is closer to 1/2 cup.

I also changed the yogurt which now has more carbs I should have never tried those in the first place cause now I want them, but they are the yoplait whips 100 calorie ones. I'm going back to chobani 100 calories or I'm going to look for the fage Greek yogurt. Other thing is the nuts of course those are my weakness but I will stop completely eating them since I cannot control the portion that I'm eating. I just know this is stopping the weight loss.

Well on the bright side: I did not took measurements when I started my journey with the exception of my waist.... Well when I started my journey I had a HUGE waist of 52in and as of today is 36!!! that just makes my day ????????????

I had a huge waist too. I'm also at a 36 now. The only Greek yogurt I can eat is oikos triple zero. Yes nuts are the devil. I have issues with just eating away like it's nothing with them too. Glad your getting back on track. I weighed in at 193 today.

That's great to hear the scale is moving. I just finished walking one hour on the treadmill it's really cold outside to go around the neighborhood for my 3 mile walk.

It is terribly cold here also. We are supposed to get 12 to 18 inches of snow tonight into tomorrow night. I am not looking forward to that at all.

Aren't you lucky! I hate snow. My body is rebelling against me right now. My daughter may be moving to Arizona just to get away from the snow. Can't say I blame her lol. Hope all is well. 193 and holding here.

Great tip* as I mention before I changed the Greek yogurt I was eating, I now eat Fage total 0% Greek yogurt and honestly it doesn't taste that great, however today while I was drinking my Crystal light drink I started thinking what about if I add some of the crystal light powder to the yogurt to make it sweet.

I have the fruit punch crystal light and oh my I was in heaven I absolutely love it!! This will be my dessert from now on. The nutrition facts on this Greek yogurt are awesome!!

That one cup serving could be for my mid snack and afternoon snack, just that 1 cup will be 23 grams of Protein? ???

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
