So I wondering a few things. I read all these posts of weight loss and it seems most of you have lost over 20 lbs in the first month or so.

I am just about 3 weeks out this Thursday will be 3 weeks I have only lost 9 lbs.

I have not been back to the gym but I have been walking

My sleeve isn't giving me any trouble at all as of yet. Protein Water soft foods all going down with no issues.

I have no restrictions as of my last dr apt.

Seems like most of you lost 50-80 lbs in the first 5 months? Nervous I'm not doing something right

I have the same problems I will be three months and so far have lost so much less then everyone else. Some say it depends on your starting weight. Not sure but it's frustrating.

I didn't lose much the first month, well really the first 6 weeks. Once I could eat regular food, my weight loss picked up and I lost the bulk of my weight the 2nd and 3rd month. Also I think it has something to do with your set point. Previously i was losing and gaining that same weight over and over. When I got the point that was the lowest I had got in the few years before surgery, I was stuck there for like 2 weeks. Then once I got past that point, the weight has been falling off.

I think it truly is a matter of low hanging fruit being the easiest to grasp.

Today is my 21st day since surgery. I've lost a pile of weight in that three weeks....and a fair amount in the months leading up to it.

It's come off quickly.....in terms of pounds......because there were so damn many pounds there to lose. I was walking around....limping around, actually, with a massive amount of excess weight. Many on here may not have so much to lose when they are starting off.

If we all compared BMI or some other proportional scale of loss, I think you'd see much smaller values.

My rate of loss will certainly slow way down once I get further into this deal. I'll be very critical that I be careful measuring my calorie intake, exercise and eat the right types of calories. The weight loss will become more of a grind...something that takes a lot of effort........but within grasp.

I'd submit that unless you had an identical twin.....at the same weight......you really can only evaluate yourself. Keep healing and stay on your plan and your 9 pound start is going to continue to where you want.

Hang in there and don't let outside factors change the way you feel about the progress you have made. You know you are doing things right.

Here some good news for you. I'm a slow loser but I have never stall. I would rather lose weight every week than to lose a large amount so fast , than lose nothing for weeks at a time. I embrace my slow weight loss. There many more positive thing to be grateful for being a slow loser. ???????????????? good luck

Like BLERDgirl said "do not compare"

And my usual response to threads whining about slow loss or stalls is "stick with the program and STAY OFF THE SCALE".

Rather than comparing pounds/kilos lost against others, try comparing % of bodyweight or % of weight-to-target...

As an example, I've lost over 150lb in eight months, which is great!!

However, I still have about 120 or so (numbers are estimates) to go.

So, someone who has lost 80lb in the same time but only has 30 to go is MILES ahead of where I'm at...

Plus, we ALL lose at different rates..

All I'm saying is stop comparing yourself to others...

Just keep doing all the right things and your time will come..

And DO NOT weigh yourself every day!!!

Please keep in mind that only some people have doctors that require a pre-op diet phase of about 2 weeks or longer. During that phase patients consume primarily Protein shakes, chicken broth, and sugar free Jello and popsicles. Patients who have doctors who require this diet will lose more weight than those patients who have doctors that do not require such diet. I did this diet and lost 25 lbs prior my surgery.

Also, the more weight you have to lose the quicker you will lose weight.

Agreed, my weigh loss is all based on post-op weight. I had no pre-op diet.

      On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
      Soooo I am coming to a realization
      of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

        Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

        Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

        I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

        I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

        BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

      Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
