Not enough protein?

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I've been slacking lately and I know I haven't been getting a lot of Protein. I don't over eat anything, but I haven't been eating all the "right" things for the last week or so - meaning not enough protein and too much junk. My legs and ankles have stayed swollen. Not painfully swollen, but swollen. I had to have my band unfilled by 6cc a month ago and slowly started having it re-filled.

I'm now as of last week back to where I was - just over 9cc but the 7 pounds I gained have gone nowhere. Not even for the 3 days I was on liquids after my fill???? I have cut the snacky treats out in the last few days but still haven't been getting much protein. I'm really confused because I've never had swelling like this before that will not go away.

This morning I started with a Protein shake and I'm planning to follow that with protein at lunch (powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken soup) and I have some extra Protein powder for snacking if needed. I'm sooooooo frustrated right now. And I've definitely been drinking enough Water.

For me Protein Shakes and Soups, etc. are sliders -- it's the dense Protein chewed well that signals my brain for satiety. I got a lot out of the videos in the link below in my signature as well as the Simpson website. Edema is so uncomfortable. How is your salt intake? Best wishes as you sort this out.

Thanks I'll try to check the videos out.

I'm going to try the 5 day pouch test in hopes of resetting myself.

I have tried Quorn yesterday made in a schnitzel tasted like chicken. It was delicious and has a lot of Protein says it has more protein than meat. Its some sort of fungi like mushroom. Only had it once and still researching if its a good thing. So far Ive been reading good things about it. Im not a vegetarian the more protein than meat caught my eye.

You need to see your primary care doctor to make sure it's not diet relate. How's your blood pressure. Are you having any problems with shortness of breath?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
