Three Weeks Post-Op -- Help!

Recommended Posts

I am struggling getting my Protein in and when I do have diarrhea all day. I can't get enough fluids in because I have this fullness that puts pressure in my chest (I am guessing from my stomach) which then results in severe heartburn. I think maybe drinking/eating too fast and too much when I don't really think I am that full. Thoughts? This heartburn is driving me crazy. I walk around sucking on Tums throughout the day. By the way, I am still on a pureed diet.

You need a PPI like Omeprazole.

Lol. Well, I know that because I am a nurse, but I was trying to avoid that because there are long-term complications with using a PPI for too long. I may have to cave though just so I can be comfortable. Will ease up as I lose more weight? I hope!

Take it short term then?. But I am not a nurse... ask your doctor maybe... Most of us do.

Ask the doctors' office. At 3 weeks out you need to be checking in with them.

I just saw the doctor on Monday, and he said to take Tums. Said it should pass soon. I went ahead and purchased a PPI today to try for 24 days. Hoping by then I will have lost enough that it is not affecting me as badly. I see the doctor again on November 9. Thank you the input! Just needed to feel like I was on the right track, I guess. Still learning to try and eat slowly and SMALL amounts at a time. :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
