Recommended Posts

Hey folks. Can anyone plz help with what it feels like if I eat to much after surgery. I was sleeved on 10/13 and was cleared today to go to stage 3 gonna try some chilli at chillis tonight. N was just wondering what it felt like if i ate too much Any input would be greatly appreciated. Kinda think it feels like cold Water going down. Also can the pouch stretch this soon after surgery or does it take time. I don't want it to. That's y I'm asking. Thanks

Being too full feels differently for everyone. I get a really bad tummy ache. Other get the sweats and other bad feelings. You don't want to find out your breaking point. Continue to measure and only eat the amount recommended by your doctor. Technically speaking you don't have a "pouch" . The surgeon removed the stretchy part of your tummy so no, your sleeve cannot stretch.

I have reached my point and mainly because I had trouble learning how to slow my eating and then it would hit me like all of a sudden. I've never thrown up but mine when I got too full was like I could feel the food in my chest and it HURT! My recommendation would be to take a small bite then sit your spoon/fork down and take a minute before your next bite. It seems difficult at first, but it's worth it to not overdo it.

I'm shocked you've advanced so fast. I was sleeved on October 15 and I can't start puréed foods till week 4. It was explained to me that any food with any texture at this point can get trapped in the staple line and cause leaks. If it still hurts be careful.

Eat slowly. It will help. When you feel like you've had enough, push away from the plate. I measure out everything (except when I'm eating out and I eyeball it but after 100 years of dieting, I'm pretty good at guessing 2 ounces of something) and if I feel full after eating only 1 ounce, I wait a little bit and see if the feeling passes. If so, I will eat a little more. If not, I'm done. You'll know it when you're full - you just have to overdo it once to remember the feelings. I did, it was awful, not going to do it again! ;)

I get a tight feeling right at the top of my stomach (just below the breastbone) when I am full. On one or two occasions, I have ignored this feeling and taken just one more bite which made me so nauseated that I had to lay down RIGHT THEN. I was also having trouble figuring out what "full" felt like in the beginning. My doctor basically told me "When you feel uncomfortable, stop eating".

I feel a heavyness in my chest. I breathe through it, try to burp, if I cannot burp and if feels like I am going to puke. I am done. Like it was said above. Eat slowly, chew longer until the food is decimated, then swallow and wait a minute before doing it again.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
