Can we talk about Halloween candy?

Recommended Posts

For those of you with kids ... How do we deal with the huge amounts of candy? I haven't had a piece since surgery or any dessert for that matter but it hasn't been in the house either! I wish I could skip the entire night except I kind of love everything else.

We're going to get the usual treats and I'm going to make sure they all are given out.

The last bags will be sugar-free chewing gum so just in case it gets leftover.......

What about the candy collected by your kids?

Oh crap! I just realized I will be on my pre-op liquid diet on Halloween. My kids will be happy I'm not raiding their stash.

We don't get many kids at my place, so not worried. The hard part is all the Halloween candy at the office! I walk a mile out of the way to avoid it!

My kids are grown, but we decided to give out the crappiest candy we could think of to give out. There's a bag that has Tootsie rolls and pops, along with some other "meh" candy. I figured if I broke down and had a Tootsie Pop, no harm :)

There will be no Snickers or Kit Kat's in my home, dammit!

We don't have enough trick or treaters to bother with candy. Lights we'll be off at our house. My kids don't trick or treat.

That being said, I have bought candy for the house and I have eaten a piece or two. For me learning to coexist around sweets is as important as avoiding them.

I've been thinking about this dilemma four about a month now. Before surgery I would buy tons of our favorite snack sized candy and eat them all month long. I just want to buy suckers and other candy I don't care for and won't be tempted to eat. My daughter was not happy about this plan and tried some emotional blackmail to get me to purchase some twix and snickers lol. The jury is still out but whatever I do buy will be purchased right before Halloween and leave my sight once the door closes for the night.

Just today I bought sugar free weathers, mints and lemon candy for my office at work. Not even going to bother with it in my house. I'm going to a wedding on Halloween. I'm pre op. I don't have kids but my friends do so I'm sure something will come of that lol.

Be strong!

I love candy! Im staying away. Im only 3 weeks out and i tried it. Put a small taste of chocolate on my tongue and felt sick. I think it was all in my head since im not supposed to have it. I wll not be buying or giving out candy. We dont get enough kids to even bother.

For me i plan on having a couple pieces but to leave it at that. And we have 2cbags of candy in our house right now that I've hidden from me and my husband. Of course i know where they are cause i "hid" them, but if i don't see them then i forget about them. And we'll be giving out extra candy to get rid of them.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
