Before surgery diet

Recommended Posts

My surgery is Oct. 22 , I am on my 2 week diet , I am starving , my head hurts , and I keep saying is this really necessary to make someone suffer like this . By the time surgery comes I will be so weak, drinking my Protein Shakes , they are horrible , eating Jello . Sorry for the whining , just needed to vent . Hope tomorrow is better .

How many shakes are you having a day?

How many calories per serving to ounces of Water?

Just curious cause I start my pre-op diet next Thursday.

My surgery is 10/22 also. For me the first 3 days were the hardest and each day it's getting a little easier. Keep up the good work! We got this!!

I'm also on Oct. 22nd. The liquid diet is hard especially when you see other people eating. But I just keep telling myself it'll be over soon and everything will be worth it.

I am on day 8 of my 13 days of pre-op diet. The first 3 days were so hard but it got MUCH easier after. Keep drinking every 1.5-2 hours and drink lots of Water too.

I just remember how long I have waited for this surgery that I do NOT want to get opened up to have them cancel because my liver didn't shrink.

My aunt and uncle both have had WLS and said pre-op diet was actually the hardest part!

Hang in there! I am right there with you. My surgery is the 19th. Two family members of mine have had the surgery and both said that the hardest part was the pre-op diet. I just keep telling myself that every day and everytime I feel hungry and want to cave in and eat something. You are so close! The worst part is almost over. :)

Sounds just like me yesterday. Arrived at 6:30am and was in surgery at 7:45am.

Everything went well. stayed in the hospital the remainder of the day, night and was released at 4:30pm today.

You'll do great. Make sure you get up and walk frequently. It really helps your healing and it takes care of any residual gas pains, if any, that you may experience.

Stay on top of your pain meds and don't let long intervals drift between doses. Take them as scheduled and you'll hardly notice any pain, I'll bet.

Best wishes.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
