Has anyone had cereal?

Recommended Posts

I used to be an avid Cereal eater and after the surgery, I haven't had a bite. I've been pretty good at staying away from old foods that don't have much nutritional value.

I am having a HUGE craving for cereal though. Have any of you eaten it since surgery? Would you even recommend to do so?

I tried it but it didn't go to well the whole liquids and solids had me with the bubble stomach. My doc and nut said cereal was cool but the cheerios and brans stuff (Which I love anyway) but not since then. We had surgery around the same time so you should be able to try it.

That's what I was worried about! -- the whole food and liquid combo. I was thinking about just having some without the milk :D I like cheerios as well, but my absolute favorite is fruit Loops. I know those are full of sugar though.

I think I'm just going to daydream about the thought of cereal for now lol

I missed the milk and sugar more than the cereal itself. To compensate for that and no more bedtime ice cream, I have a glass of milk (or almond milk) with some vanilla and a little sweetener.

That is so interesting! Perhaps I may be the same way? I just might try that out.

Cereal is a trigger food for me, so I stay away. I liked it all little too much pre op, which contributed to me getting to 235 pounds ;)

Too many carbs. Carbs will quickly sabotage you.

I'm gonna be watching this to lol I've heard Cheerios is ok. But I haven't thought about the whole liquid solid thing. I've tolerated everything well so far but do get full very quickly so I guess this will just be an experiment to try lol

I had 1/4 cup of grape nuts with milk once. I let it thoroughly soak so the Cereal was soft. It tasted great and I had no problems with it, but it's not something I'll eat very often because of the carbs.

I miss cereal so much, especially Raisin Nut Flakes, but I know that there is no way I could handle it yet. I worry to have it though because it was a problem food for me. I might have to, in the future, have my husband hide it from me and allow me a small amount once and a while.

I've snacked on some dry cereal occasionally. Also added <1/4 cup to some yogurt, just to have some crunch. But it's really a very infrequent thing. A very conscious decision to have the extra carbs. I don't think carbs are evil. I just think too many are, especially if they make me feel bad.

Can't imagine having a bowl of cereal with milk! :o How things have changed

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
