Be careful with bouillon cubes for the msg. That crap will bloat you up and you'll never understand what hit ya.

I ordered a sample of the Unjury chicken broth flavored Protein and it was actually tasty.

I have to find the type of lotions or oils people lather themselves with for skin hydration.

What's everyone buying so far for post-op? I haven't started yet but I know I'll be getting Biotin for the hair, injury chicken flavored Protein.< /p>

What else?

I bought some of the clear Protein Drinks, so I have them right after. I bought 2 oz. and 4 oz containers that are also freezable, for Soups and such. I also bought tiny appetizer plates, herbal tea, sugar-free syrups for flavor, Bariatric Fusion Vitamins, Unjury, and a few different protein powders.< /p>

I just wanted to be prepared to not have to shop after surgery.

I have bought unflavored Protein Powder, and also have found a chocolate protein powder for drinks that I love. I hope my taste for it doesn't change after surgery. I plan on stocking up on lots of sugar free jellos & puddings, assorted broths. I have also been eyeing up low sodium cream Soups, hummus, and fat free refried bean. I am spending time googling ideas.

My most expensive purchase though will be a hair topper. I have very thin hair on the top of my head and have a synthetic hair topper now that I wear if my hair doesn't have any volume some days (though I haven't worn it in a while!). I am going to spend the extra money and get a human hair topper so I can color it and curl it or do whatever I want to it.

I'm trying to start a list too. I've never heard of "injury chicken flavored protein". What exactly is that, fabnsab?

I was thinking about getting some 2 oz & 4 oz containers. I think that will be helpful. I have heard some people buy little forks, knives and spoons. I wonder if that is necessary or if it really helps? If anyone has any tips, I'd love to hear them?

It's Unjury chicken Soup flavored Protein Powder. It's really good but beware that when you add any Protein to hot liquid (over 140F) that it tends to clump. One solution is to mix the powder with a small amount of warm tap Water (should be a thick liquid consistency) and then add that to the hot water.

I am buying SF jellos, bouillon cubes, the Vitamins the NUT says I will need, and I already have a Yeti rambler cup. Pretty pricey but keeps drinks cold or hot for hours which will be huge for me when I have to sip 64oz, or as close as I can get to 64 oz, of whatever liquid I am drinking.

I also purchased a food scale for weighing portions further down the road.

Not sure how much a Yeti cup is, but I recently bought a 17oz S'well water bottle for $35. I have a hard time drinking water unless it's ice cold and the S'well water bottle has been helping me drink more water. They come in different sizes and I heard they have started selling them at Starbucks.

Thanks for the info about the bouillon. Guess I will stick with low sodium broths and Soups.< /p>

11/17/15 is my date! Here is a little about me. I am 35 and 5'8, I am a mother of two toddlers and two teenage step kids. I have had back surgery and the added weight is making my back worse. I really don't want to have to go through back surgery again. My doctor thinks this will help with my back and my plantar fasciitis in my feet. I just want to be a healthy weight and be able to run with my kids!

I've been gathering Vitamins and even bought some Isopure (the clear RTD) for the Protein shakes I'll need before surgery. I'm afraid that my tastes will change afterwards so I don't want to buy anything for that yet. I did get a sample set of Syntrax nectar and a small bag of Isopure Unflavored powder. I've booked my flights (I'm going to Mexico) and made hotel reservations as well.

I don't want my in-laws to know about the surgery but I need them to watch my daughter while my husband and I are gone. It's been hard to me to lie to them. We've said for several years now that we want to go on vacation for Thanksgiving rather than have any big family meals (they've gone horribly wrong the past several years). So we have just said that we are going on vacation and don't know where we are going yet. Now I must think of a good vacation spot that's not too much of a lie.

Use Mexico as your vacation spot, you just have to worry about not coming back with a tan!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
