Surgery 9/24 was a breeze!

Recommended Posts

Everything went well; I was ready to get up and walk two hours post-op, but they had me wait 5 hours. The discomfort (aka pain) was manageable and truly not a problem. They offered me pain meds and I took them. I'm up sitting in a chair now, with a foot-stool and working on Sudoku and Priscilla Shirer's The Resolution for Women. Good stuff.

Wonderful! It continues to get easier as the days go by. I also think Priscilla Shirer's books are full of wisdom, about to start Armor of God. Wishing you continued speedy recovery.

Hi! I had my surgery 9/21, and I'm so happy I did! I was given a patch for nausea, and some pain medication, but only had to take that a few days. I gained 6.5 pounds in the hospital from all the fluids I was getting, but that's off now plus 3 more! I'm looking forward to getting new clothes soon, and/or wearing some of the smaller sizes I have in my closet. Good luck to everyone, we're on an awesome journey!!

Update - it's now 3 days post-op and I'm doing well. I'm down 12 pounds since my weigh-in 2 days before surgery and I'm already feeling better. The pain has subsided and is now just a dull ache. I'm sipping Water all day and have made Gelatin using sugar-free fruit juice, gelatin packets and Protein Powder. I just nibble one square at a time. No hunger pangs whatsoever (yay), but I know it's important to get Protein and nutrients, so I also opened 3 WLS Vitamin capsules and poured them into a glass and mixed it with about 2-3 ounces of water and sipped it (it was awful!) lol ran fevers of 99.1 to 99.5 for 3 days (perfectly normal since body is healing 5 incision points plus the stomach), but now temp has stabilized and is normal. Incision areas are all healing well, swelling is down (but not gone); I'm still being very careful. My doc recommended I not be alone for at least 1 week after surgery so I have someone here at all times, just to be one the safe side. All-in-all - I think it went well and I think I'm doing exceptionally well!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
