It sucks, but slowly gets better. First few weeks were downright unpleasant and I didn't feel completely human until about 12 weeks out! Then, I started feeling better....alot better! I was exercising, increasing energy levels, clothes were too big...all that great stuff!

I started at 308, lost 150# and have been maintaining for a few years. It has been so worth it!!!

I felt the same way! Start experimenting with puréed foods that actually make you feel like your eating real food. My go to during that faze which I just got out of on Monday was refried Beans with some fat free sour cream and a small amount of salsa con queso (two tbsp is only 40 calories if you buy tostitos brand). It's like eating a burrito in a bowl. Oh and hummus mixed into some cottage cheese. Both are high Protein too. You can do it!!! ????

Stay off the scale.

What you are seeing is normal fluctuations due to recently undergoing surgery, IV fluids, etc.

Stay off the scale and focus on getting in your Protein and fluids.

Did I mention, stay off the scale?

Hey there SEMEFIT, we want to see you fit!!! You worked too hard to even get approved to get to this point so don't give up on yourself. Having "buyers remorse" is a normal feeling. And since you can't turn back you can only move forward. They told us this was going to be work and it wasn't going to be easy. 16lbs is a great accomplishment for a one week loss!! I stumbled across a great video on Youtube, by a bariatric sleeve patient. Lauren Vento, from start to finish and she touches on every topic and she is very inspiring. So you are not alone!! Stay strong you've got this :)

Early out, I didn't weigh myself. I waited for my doctors appointments.

Now, I am almost six months out, I weigh no more than once a week (sometimes less frequently).

This works for me. Everyone has to find his or her strategy,

For me, weighing early in the process gave me no valuable information. The numbers on the scale don't change what I am supposed to do: get enough Protein and Water, walk, and stay off the scale!

The benefit, is you will most-likely have a very pleasant surprise when you finally do weigh.

From what I read, everyone has these "oh my gosh, what did I do" feelings. At least you know this is normal. Get in your Water and Protein and hopefully you'll be over this hump soon. If not, definitely get some professional help. This is such a life changing thing and asking for help to get through this major change is a good thing. Good Luck- you can do it!

You weigh as often as you can without getting upset. Personally I do monthly or whenever I have a doctor's appt. whichever comes first. I want to focus on good eating and exercise without focusing on numbers on a scale. Others do more frequently. Don't become scale obsessed and let it drive you crazy.

Maybe you could consider making an appointment with a therapist. Even if you weren't entirely ready, you have had the surgery. All you can do is move forward. Talking to a professional may help, especially if it keeps you from doing serious harm to yourself by not following your post-op food plan.

It does get better.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
