Recommended Posts

Hi there

Gaining weight quite rapidly with the band... :(

When (mean what weight or bmi) did you start thinking about revison?

I am self pay. Lost 6 stones and gained 2 back over the summer. Banded for 4 years

Thanks

My brother had gastric bypass 10 years ago, and was very successful. I was not sure I wanted to go through what he did, however, so I had the band done. It didn't work for me - by the time we got it tight enough to work, I was throwing up constantly.

However, several people where I work recently had the laparoscopic bypass, and they raved about it. Just a week or two of recovery time (and surgical pain) and then they were so glad they had it done. I started thinking about it then.

Now my daughter has had it done, and another family member is scheduled for November. I'm planning mine for January, since I am heavily committed for November and December with other things. Even if I'd just lose 50-75 pounds, I know I'd feel so much better - and then walking and riding my exercise bike wouldn't be so difficult. I want to ride roller coasters with my grandkids this summer - and be able to sit at the top of the bleachers to see their band field shows!

I had to have my band out due to reflux and over 10 years gained back the 90 lbs I lost the first year with it. I chose to convert to bypass because I still needed/wanted to lose weight even without the band.

I started thinking about it 5 months after I started gaining weight and having terrible acid reflux. I had the band removed, but pondering over which revision to do. I'm thinking RNY due to diabetes but I only weigh 215. I'm worried of becoming too thin. Keep in touch!

I don't think you want to do the sleeve if you have acid reflux. I also don't think people get too thin unless they have a complication that makes it harder to eat. I think it would be relatively easy for me to stop losing now if I upped my calories and/or decreased my exercise.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
