So I have posted here a few times regarding my frustrations of not loosing to much weight after surgery. Some have said I am expecting to much and others have told me that they relate to my frustration. I appreciate every reply and it does make me feel better sharing my story.

With that being said I just came back from my 3 week post op appointment and my doctor was slightly concern as to why my weight loss is going slower then usual. I lost 11 pounds during my pre surgery diet and have lost 17 pounds in three weeks. She agreed 17 pounds in three weeks is ok but it slower than usual for her bypass patient. However, if I add the weight that I lost before the surgery then I am right on track which is almost 30 pounds. To me it doesn't make sense to count the weight that I lost before the surgery. What I count is the weight loss after surgery. When do you guys officially count your weight loss. Anyways, I asked her what happens when the surgery doesn't work for those who fall under that very small percentage of "not successful ". She told me that then they proceed to prescribe medication that helps jump start weight lost. Has anyone ever been thru that ? Has anyone struggled to loose every pound or didn't loose all the weight they had hoped for? I know I might be over reacting but I really only lost weight my first week post op when I was on liquids and the last two I have been at a stall. I went over my diet and Water intake with her and she was happy with what I am doing . I am following everything to a T.

I see her in three weeks again. By then she expects me to get out of this stall. I am just really concern that I am going to fall in that small percentage in which it doesn't work. When she expressed a little concern of me hitting the stall so soon I got really worried.

Oh and one more thing . Since I am only three weeks out I haven't really been doing any exercise. I am allowed to go to the gym now. So you guys think if I start exercising that might help me start loose again?

I know the exercise will really help, but also are you taking your measurements? I am one of those people that is expecting to lose less on the scale and more in my dimensions. Pre op I was struggling. I didn't lose a pound on the scale but lost 4 inches altogether. I am barely 2 weeks post op and lost around 12lbs but I am not worried. I'm certain my body is going through an adjust period and I just have to be patient. But I wouldn't be suprised that once exercise gets incorporated again my weightloss will be super slow. So don't get discouraged!

@ready.... You know what is funny . I have gone down two pant sizes but the scale is not moving. Even my shoes are starting to feel looser. The scale is not moving but I am definitely loosing inches .

See that is a huge success! It's the mental block associated with the number on the scale that we have to break. That is an awesome non scale victory!

Now I'm back to being discouraged/worried. I've lost less than you three weeks out - 15 pounds. :( I try to stay away from negative thinking/self talk but... I can't help but think it would be so ironic but so freaking normal for me to somehow screw this up too, even though it's my body's fault and no choice of my own. The ironic patterns of my life just repeating and repeating and repeating. Can't tell you all how frustrated and sad I am.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
