So how many ppl are swallowing pills or capsules. I don't know why they say don't but I want to know of others can. Because I cannot stomach some of the capsules opened... Like my b50 is nasty or my antacid capsule.

Can I swallow them or should I still opened them? Same with my ursidol for the gallbladder I cannot take it crushed

I can swallow decent sized pills but on an empty stomach they make me sick. My nut told me thats the only exception to drinking when eating is to take that Vitamin. I have a few different chews from Bariatric Advantage my favotrites from the 250 are lemon and raspberry and from the 500 the orange.

I'll be honest... I am having a hell of a time not drinking and eating... It is one of the the hardest things for me... I know why it is important, but I keep doing it :(
Me too its really hard not eating then drinking.....when i eat my mouth feels so dry....i try so hard not to drink n just cant help it ugh i had to catch myself

Surgery went well! No complications so far. My doctor has given the ok to start introducing any foods that I can tolerate and so far everything has been fine except I ran out of Protein Shakes this morning and so I started to drink one of my sons Boost. BIG mistake. Too much sugar. I stopped after 2 sips and realized it was not going to end well. Luckily no dumping. I haven't thrown up once! The pain at the beginning was what I would consider minimal. Ive lost about 25 pounds so far so Im loving it!

Each person's program is different but to contribute to the pills discussion. I take dissolving Biotin, and the rest of my Vitamins (2 Multivitamins a day and 3 Vitamin D w/calcium a day) are all chewable. My Dr was very strict abt ONLY doing chewable for the first 6 weeks. Not sure why but I'm following orders. I've had to take a stool softener and it's small so I've been swallowing that but it's not easy.

And I'm so relieved to hear that Ron is home and doing well!

@@irishaggie I start "all foods today" but nervous so have packed all softs for my lunch...lol. I did have Jason's Deli broccoli and cheese Soup yesterday. Well about 5 bites anyway and it was delicious! What are you eating to get all your Protein in? Are you getting all your Water in? I get about 48 to 56 ounces of water a day and the I feel water logged. As for protein, I start off with a shake but then I just don't think I get enough from there.

Hello all,

I hope you all had successful surgeries and are well on your way to your goals and dreams. You guys have made me cry with your kindness and my wife has been very thankful for the support as well. I can’t thank you enough.

My story:

I am back among the living. Still have some recovery and therapy ahead of me but I have made it home. The doctors tell me I am lucky to be alive. I think it was all the prayers, thoughts, and well wishes that helped me pull through.

For those that do not know:

6 Oct Gastric Bypass

9 Oct Complication – Operation to fix a small bowel obstruction. During this operation, as they were putting me under, I threw up into my lungs. My lungs were now filled and not operating. They sent me to another hospital but they couldn't do anything for me. They finally flew me to University of Maryland Medical Center. Where they saved my life.

They hooked me up to ECMO https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extracorporeal_membrane_oxygenation

I had the Veno-venous (VV) type. At one point my wife said I had 18 different IV bags hanging on my pole. As a result of the procedure I have four blood clots in my body and will be on blood thinners for another 3 to 6 months. So I have to have my blood drawn to monitor my blood thinner levels twice a week.

I am currently home and walking with a walker. I have PT coming 3 times a week and a nurse coming twice a week to draw blood and check my wounds.

I am tired now and need to take a nap. I hope my energy levels return soon. Thank you once again for all the thoughts, prayers and well wishes. I hope to catch up on this thread but it will take me a while.

Blessed to be among the living.

Ron I was in communication with your wife and God guess sherry for her strength during your trying times. Ironically I felt the need to just make sure I reached out to her not knowing I too had the same complication but God spared me.. The same thing transpired 2 days after surgery bowel obstruction due to my body have a reaction with whatever material they used and having tunes but I give all glory to the most high that you are now back amongst our mist.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
