Hey everyone, 4 days post and surprisingly doing very well zero pain just tightness from the hiatal hernia repair. Protein intake is close to 60 grams and almost hitting 64 oz Water. Glad to be improving daily and hope everyone else has continued recuperation as well!

That is awesome. I wonder if I have more pain because of hernia repair. That is great you are meeting your goals, it is difficult but it sounds like you are progressing beautifully!

@ Hang in there! I have definitely had my moments too!! I find getting out of the house is helping me. I love being home but I seem to sink into depression if I stay in the house too long. Mom is coming to get me today to go for pedicures. That should help a lot!!

I did go out yesterday. I went to Walmart lol, even though I was I pain after I think it loosened me up a bit for today. The pain is not as bad. I don't know where the emotions came from.

@likeadiamond- no pain meds prescribed here. My office doesn't believe in them unless extreme cases. Extra strength Tylenol is all. I feel like I've done a million sit ups.. ugh

Has anyone tried juice plus is it good or a waste of money the capsules or the chewables

I haven't tried juice but I have tried the chewables from Bariatric Advantage they are these gigantic chalky chews and I don't really care for them. The capsules from bariatric advantage are a lil big but you are able to swallow them. I prefer the capsule because the chewable is really chalky and not too great in the flavor department. Hope this helped. My surgeon's office gave me a sample of the chewable before I bought any Vitamins

@@irishaggie Well my job is not really flexible. My boss is a "little skinny" that has never had a weight problem in her life. I overhead her telling someone that if I had made better choices with my diet I would not find myself needing this "ridiculous surgery ". But I plan to be flexible. If I need to leave, I will leave...lol.

@@dancingqueene sleeping was very hard for me too the first couple of nights home. Not only did my incisions hurt but every time I laid down I thought my chest was going to cave in. My dad when and bought me a Brookstone 3in1 memory foam wedge pillow at Bed Bath and beyond. It was a little pricy at about a hundred dollars but it made all the difference. I put it on the bed and then my regular pillow on the bottom part of the wedge and my body pillow beside me and it makes a nest where I can prop my body more comfortably. And having the elevated wedge makes getting out of bed easier. Hope this helps.

Thinking about you today @@edie091371 and hope your first day back goes smoothly! What a bummer about your boss… such ignorance, so frustrating. Good to know that you are able to leave all that behind if she is not supportive… you do not need that in your life right now!

Okay everyone, I have a question. I am 3 weeks post op tomorrow and sometimes when I move or turn over in bed my incisions feel like they are pulling. It is not really painful nut definitely not comfortable. Is anyone else feeling this and when does it start to go away? Also at the end of a more active day, my incisions feel a little achy.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
