Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

@@Laughingmyassoff2015 YAHOO!! another stress off the table :)

Welcome to the group@@Mildred Cox and @@sweettooth2015

Anyone else having weird thoughts? I am on the pre-op diet so I am not eating (normal food anyway). My wife has gone to bed and I walk by the kitchen and think "hmm if I were still eating I would go in there and make me a whole bunch of food and best of all she wouldn't know anything about it." I was sitting there planning a binge even though I wasn't eating. It makes me very scared to think like that. This surgery may be a tool but I have got so much work ahead of me!

First part of stress test done last Friday, Echocardiogram complete yesterday, and second part scheduled for tomorrow. I believe after that I will only have my abdomen sonogram left which is scheduled for 22 September.

I need to gather all my clothes that are too small for me now and organize them in sizes so it will be easier as I shrink to the new me but I don't think I will have time for that.

HAH! I start pre-op liquid diet a week from tomorrow and all I keep thinking about is all of the "lasts" I'm having - to the point where it's borderline obsessive. "This is my last burger", or "this is the last Pasta I'll be able to eat", or my favorite, "I better enjoy this Stoli, cuz it's the last martini I'll be able to have for a very long time". Crazy. I'm dreading next Friday because I feel lifetime's going to be a huge struggle to get through the week. However, on the other side of that is surgery. Now if I could just stop thinking about pizza...... ;)

@@kimvox66 I hear you. I dreaded no make that it scared the bejesus out of me just thinking about starting the pre-op diet. But it has not been that bad. Maybe because I was so scared I prepared myself for it? Also I stopped a lot of stuff way before that day except for my gum. My chewing gum was my last security blanket.

I went to a "support group" meeting last night and thought I was going to spontaneously combust. Instead of focusing on the surgery and aftercare (which I thought was what I was going for) they had invited a personal trainer in to talk. Which in theory is fine I guess, you know ties in with aftercare and all. I spent the better part of two hours (which I was taking away from my family whim I have precious little time with anyway) listening to this pompous individual pimp her services and all but call us lazy...really???? I am serious at want point she even attacked a young girl at the meeting that stated that when she gets home from her 12 hour nursing shifts she is so tired she falls into the chair to watch TV and wind down. The "trainer" said why are you watching TV for a couple of hours at night? At this point I could not control myself any longer, I lost it and blurted out, "Because c we are so darn tired from working our a***s off all day at our real jobs that we need time to wind down and let ourselves destress. Needless to say she did not give me her card!!! I just could not believe her audacity. Maybe I was being hyper sensitive but at this point of my journey that was not at all what I needed.

Wow @@edie091371 you did better I would. After I finished with her I would have contacted my doctor, the hospital and everyone and given them some feedback! We certainly don't need anything like that.

@@edie091371 I agree, she obviously doesn't get it! My knees are so bad, bone on bone, that most exercises aren't easy for me. Walking is the only thing for me, & swimming. I get so tired, & even more tired of people thinking we are just lazy because we are overweight!!!!!!! Being in the exercise business you would think she would have more compassion for people & have better ideas!!!

Young and obviously never been in a tough situation. My back and ,y knees are so bad the physiologist doesn't even want me walking. He told me to get some of the little bicycle type pedals to put on the floor. So I sit in my chair and pedal. And he gave me some strengthening exercises that I do in a chair or standing. I so walk my dog too but if y knees are too bad we don't go as far.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
