How long did the fast weight loss last for you?

Recommended Posts

I've lost 21 lbs in 22 days. It's boggles my mind. I've lost 11 in 12 days since surgery, and also lost 10 lbs in the 10 day pre-surgery diet. I'm trying hard not to get attached to the rate of weight loss, because I figure it will slow any day. I know I'm not going to be the same as everyone else, but I'm curious how long this faster weight loss lasted for others. Thanks.

I didn't lose that fast, but 2.5 months out I am still losing 3-4 lbs per week.

I haven't lost fast. I may lose 1.5 to 2 a week. and sometimes nothing. I am fine with that.

Mine was all over the place. I haven't gained any along the way yet. I don't weigh very often though, I didn't want to drive myself nuts. I've lost 100 lbs in 10 months and that 10 months FLEW by so I'd say that was fast!!

The first 3 weeks to a month is usually the fastest. Then it tapers off to more "normal" weight loss rates of 2-4 pounds a week.

Me? I lost an average of 1-2 pounds a week, because I have the metabolism of a koala.

I lost 14 pounds in my first week. Then it was 25 pounds total for the first three weeks. Then NOTHING for over two weeks. So yeah, don't get too comfy with the initial rapid weight loss. That first stall is brutal.

A month out about 30lbs. I haven't had the stall for 2 weeks yet and I am terrified. I am conditioning myself to stop thinking I'll lose 30 lbs every month because obviously that isn't the case and I do have a terrible metabolism. So yeah it's quick in the first month but as everyone says it'll slow down. Mentally preparing for it.

I'm at my 7th week and it is starting to slow down or should I say stalled... I've lost 50 lbs.. So far and I have been at 257.8 for a week (sw307.6)

I'm at my 7th week and I've lost 35lbs. I weigh everyday and it fluctuates, and I drive myself crazy with it so I don't recommend it. ???? But I haven't started at the gym yet and I'm hoping that will improve things.

I did start at the gym (5 days/week) and while I haven't truly stalled, I have noticed the loss slowing down a bit. I am hoping when it comes time to check measurements at the end of this month that I have lost inches rather than pounds. I never measured myself at the beginning, but figure it can't hurt to help keep me motivated when the scale won't budge!

My weight fell off pretty rapidly the first 7 months or so, then slowed for the next 3 or so months until I reached my goal. Since then I've lost another 10-15 pounds and have been maintaining.

I lost what I thought was rapidly for the first 2 weeks, (16 pounds in 17 days) and then I hit the dreaded 3 week stall - which is where I sit currently. It seems it is different for everyone.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
