Focus on lean meat (no bacon, sausage, deli meat, or jerky) and green veggies for lunch and dinner, Greek yogurt for Breakfast, and fruit for Snacks. Be careful how you prepare things -- stay away from butter, cheese, sauce, etc. Stay away from grains, sweets, and starchy veggies such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, and peas. No, this isn't a lot of fun but you can do this without being terribly hungry for a week and you will lose the weight and likely more than half a pound. It is just for a week and you need to be strict with yourself for a little bit to keep on track towards the surgery you want.

Weigh yourself every day to make sure you are staying on track. Oh and cut out liquid calories completely. Also, this will help you get ready for post-surgery life. Good luck!

Drink a lot of Water.

Skip carbs.

Skip snacking.

Skip sugar (as much as you can).

I lost a lot of weight once I quit carbonation beverages.

@ - you have to know NOW how important following your NUT is - especially pre-op and for the rest of your life and especially after surgery. There is a reason for the "diet" and please understand now that WLS is only a tool and your eating habits will null and void everything the surgery was set up for...

Did you get a food plan to follow from the NUT? Review it again and what @@Bufflehead and @@Inner Surfer Girl said was great advice. I totally agree and measure everything out -

I don't know if you were required to lose a certain amount of weight pre-surgery for approval. You said a minimum of a half a pound, but you didn't clarify if that was per day, week, etc.

you got this :D

Thanks everyone I've cut out my juice and cut down my portionns so I should see movement on the scale. As far as weight loss. The nut wants me to lose half a pound to two pounds a month

@@net0girl for people who are pre-sleeve, it's too easy to eat a ton of Jerky and cram in the calories. Also a lot of jerky brands have high carbs and sugar.

Also, jerky has a lot of sodium.

Pre-op, I wasn't required to lose a certain amount of weight but I tried hard to not gain.

One of the main differences between pre-op and post-op is volume. Pre-op you really do want to try to fill up to be satisfied. I ate a lot of broccoli and cauliflower. I would get frozen and add a steamer bag of vegetables to many of my meals. Post-sleeve that doesn't work.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
