Aussie Bansters Chat Thread Part 2

Recommended Posts

Congrats Dazey, Hello everyone

I was also banded last Tuesday 28th and am really looking forward to the weight coming off, as I know I will feel a whole heap better about myself.

I feel a bit windy, and have a pain in my left shoulder, I can do without, which they tell me is referred pain from the gas. Doctor wanted me to stay on Optifast shakes for a few days but I have been eating a bit of soft food. All told I have lost about 8kg from beginning of Optifast stage so its slowly coming off and I couldn't be happier..........:)

Hi,

No one's said anything for abit, so I thought I'd jump on in.

I was banded last week and am healing nicely. I was lucky and didn't have any problems with shoulder pain, and didn't need any meds once I got home, just pretty tender for most the week.

Weight is coming down too, yahhh!! I seemed to have stayed at around 130kg for years, with my weight peaking at 138kg at one point. Definatley nice to see the scales going the other way for a change.

Hope everyone else is going well.

Hi everyone... I have been lurking for a while, just reading and thinking... and have begun the banding process.... I have had my first appointment with the surgeon last week and have the further appointments coming up next week. Am very excited. I had a highest weight of 150.7kg, and am currently at 144.7, so am feeling good that the scales are going downwards instead of upwards.

I have a couple of questions for you though - has anyone been banded by Dr Adam Skidmore at either Mountain District Private, or Epworth Eastern Private? Would love to hear from anyone who has. Also, I am a shift worker, is anyone else? How does this go for anyone else who is? I suffer from the 3am boredom eating, and am hoping to curb this soon!

Thanks for all your positive stories... hope to hear from you all soon!

Cheers

Hi animatedfluff,

I am a night shift worker for another two weeks, however have worked night shift for 10 years. Like adapting sleep you have to adapt eating patterns as well, and even with the lapband there has to be a degree of will power as the three oclock munchies are usually junk food (.... so it is a matter of telling yourself no.. and often distracting yourself).....and junk food goes down very easily. And junk food is empty calories. My suggestion also is to eat fruit, if you can't stop the munchies..

My biggest dilemma is do i eat Breakfast when i come home in the morning or when i get up during the day......Since i have my band i now have breakfast when i get up and just a drink when i get home....

I do however find at the moment i have more restriction during the night.

With my experience of the band,(2 months) everyone is different, and sometimes you can eat something one day but not the next.....

Good luck with you appts and future weight loss

Hey all..

Im On my Optifast stage for 3 weeks and im wondering if i should be on multivitamins as i know optifast has every thing you need and i dont wanna over do it...

thanks

Kaylene

Hi Kaylene,

I think that unless your doctor or dietian has told you to take a mv that you won't need to as long as you are eating everything your supose to.

What date is your surgery?

I went to H&R Block the year I was banded. I ended up getting a fair chunk back (I kept all of my pharmacy receipts too, plus the one from my banding) I can't remember how much I got back, but I remember it was more than I expected.

I guess I should dig up the receipt from my Tummy Tuck. I should get something back on that too.

I am trying to decide to do the banding and seeing your pics will help me decide. Was looking for someone who has had the band in a while. Any complications?

How's this for an NSV?

Do it! It will be the best decision you ever made. I actually wore that bikini in public last week up in Byron and it was the BEST feeling.

I just commented on the other thread - but I will here too - you're looking great Jacqui. I'm a long way from looking that good in a swimsuit of any kind! The smile on your face says it all - strut it and be proud, you've worked so hard for it!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
