well here i am.

Fecking hell but it's not been that pleasant an experience. the trapped gas causing referred pain to my shoulders was breathtakingly painful. That being said it could have been a hell of a lot worse. My surgeon was delighted with how well i had done losing weight pre-op. I'm also a wondering how much i've lost in hospital as the only nutrition i've been having here has been pain meds..... delicious delicious opiate based pain meds... lol.

What's interesting is how utterly unhungry I am. I can't imagine wanting food ever again. But I presume that wears off eventually.

Either way it's looking fairly likely that i will be off home today. with any luck the shoulder pain will be off on it's merry way too as it has seriously outstayed it's welcome.

So onwards brave bariatric soldiers.

I'll give another quick update when/if i get discharged.

lotsa love

Des

I'm sure you've been told that the shoulder pain is gas.... I didn't get much of that, but was told walking helps. The hunger does return, although for me, it feels different. Its now more of an empty feeling, not the hunger pangs from pre-op and it is delightfully satisfied with so much less food. Welcome to the other side and just keep drinking those fluids!

I hope the gas pain gets better soon Desmond. I didn't have that thank goodness. While in the hospital I gained 14 pounds from 3 days of iv...wasn't happy about that. Glad to hear you're probably getting released today. Keep is posted :)

Good news des fans. I've be sprung. My consultant who didn't appear all day yesterday finally showed at 12 today. I'm not all that bothered in the end though. Had the last of my opiate based painkiller last night. Slept like a proverbial.

Sip super slow. Wait between sips & walk after drinking.

Hi Desmond. I haven't thrown up yet so I'm not sure what to recommend.now that I'm on regular food I do find I eat a bit too quickly once in awhile and feel almost like I'm gonna throw it up. Maybe your new stomach can't tolerate milk?

If it can't then I'm doomed. .. lol. Milk is the only friend I have left.

So week and a bit since surgery. Things are normalising.... ish.... eating is a difficult (and thankless lol) job each day. Still super unhungry. Have to remind myself to eat all the time. I'm also coming nowhere near the 4 Protein Shakes a day target... I make em.... but barely manage half.

But anyway. Things are going well. Getting more comfortable each day and closing in on 80lbs down which is exciting and means that a little bit of new clothes were in order. Trouser size down from 44 inches to 38.

Spent today making Christmas cakes which I might/will never eat. Was never so unenthused for the whole process. My sweet tooth seems to have fallen out. Had a coffee earlier and tried a bit of tofee Syrup. Needless to say it went undrank.

So well that's the news September sleever folks.

Lots a love

Des

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
