Unexpected Period during strict 2 week liquid diet.

Recommended Posts

Grr, as my luck would have it I got my period on the third day of the pre op diet. I'm on the pill and it's in the middle of my birth control pack. I have a feeling my hormones are going wacky. I hope it stops soon, I'm travling to Mexico for my surgery and the last thing I want to be doing is try to manage putting in tampons when I'm all sore. Not to mention the 5 hour plane ride.

Did anyone else have this?

Ok...,end rant

My period came 4 days early while on my 10 day liquid pre-op. The low calories, etc. Body freak out. It ended it the normal amount of days though, so it didn't matter and actually worked out better.

The two week diet actually made my body freak out too where I was just kind of bleeding but enough to require feminine products (sorry, TMI?) and subsequently made this period technically 17 days long. How miserable! So I had surgery when it was still the end of the cycle -- thankfully, and yes, dealing with tampons was a pain. Especially with having to pee so much from the IV fluids.

Just hope your body gets this period completely out of the way before surgery! (:

Just a question are you sure you can be on the pill before surgery. Check with your surgeon but I am going to Mexico also and they said no birth control pills one month before.

Varies by doctor. I was allowed to keep taking it up until surgery day. And as soon as I felt able again afterward

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
