How long till you can lay on your tummy?

Recommended Posts

Thinking of making a trip to the spa before I return to work, but might just have to be foot massage and shoulder massage. How long till sleevers with hernia repair could lay on your side or stomach? Was hoping to get calf massage because they are always tight. Thoughts?

I'm only 6 days out so I can't tell you other then to say I tried to sleep on my side last night... bad decision. I was on my side for 5 minutes then turned back onto my back. I have had a pulling sensation and just uncomfortable feeling most of the day. It's gone now but I know I will not be trying that again any time soon.

I am a tummy/side sleeper so this really sucks!!

I did it on day 4 by accident and it felt amazing. It really helps with the gas and the pressure on your stomach is just nice. I didn't really turn the cover on my recovery until I could sleep on my stomach, because it was the first night i had 8 hours of solid sleep.

I was able to sleep on my right side while still in the hospital. On my stomach for limited amounts of time, maybe 10 minutes. I'm only a week out and can sleep on my stomach but still wake up when I need to change positions.

I'm about 9 or 10 days out. I could sleep on my right side fine after a few days, but left side is still a touch and go thing. I still get twinges if I try to sleep on my side at night, and usually end up on my back. I can lay on my stomach no problem, however.

Just gotta be careful how I get back up.

I was sleeping on my side at the hospital just fine. Got home yesterday and now I have to put a small pillow under my stomach to sleep on either side. I can sleep on my stomach but I wake up every time I need to change positions. So everyone is different. I never could sleep on my back, I feel like I'm suffocating.

I was discharged yesterday, sleeved 8/25, and I've been able to sleep and lay on either of my sides since yesterday. Not close to being able to lay on my stomach yet.

Oh you guys are so lucky. I had surgery on 8-4-2015 and could not take any pain medicine since I got home on 8-5-2015- long story. Either way, I think I was able tolerate sleeping on my right side about a week out, and then another week later on left, but carefully. I am 25 days post op and just slept on my stomach for the first night last night...yaya

I was sleeved on 7/13, and I am only just beginning to be able to sleep on my side/stomach for a few hours at a time. Another person I know was laying on her side the day after! It varies from person to person.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
