You have been through a massive surgery, hardly eaten for a while and you're not getting a lot of fluids in right now. You're bound to be tired!

I was exhausted after the surgery and slept a lot. I'm just at 3 weeks out and still feel tired at times during the day and will nap. .

Take it easy and rest when your body tells you to

I'm dealing with tiredness too, it just seems to have started in the last few days, I felt great the first week after surgery. Feel tired all the time & struggling to get my daily Water intake in. Blah! This shall pass, I hope.

I am also about 2.5 weeks out (7/29) and somedays i feel very tired and weak. Yesterday i could only handle taking a shower. I get my Protein and fluids each day, but 600 calories a day is not much. I am still on liquids so i have not had any "real" food yet. That does not help.

Totally normal. I'm about 6 weeks out now and just starting to feel somewhat normal again. Everyone handles the recovery differently and I would get discouraged by reading of others feeling great after just a couple weeks while meanwhile it was a struggle to take a shower without having to sit on the side of the tub to rest. I agree that you must be sure to get your Water in and your Protein.< /p>

I feel the same way. I had mine 12 days ago. I normally am full of energy, work two jobs, manage my own rentals, and go to school, but since the surgery, I am just without energy. I need to sleep a good chunk of the day just to make it. I don't think I get all of my Protein in , etc because I am just so exhausted. I sleep though my feeding and drinking time. This is nuts.

Believe me the tiredness will go away. For at least a month. I could no walk a few steps without stopping to rest. I live in NYC where you have to walk fast or get knocked over lol. It was tough for me. My doctor said keep drinking Water and keep drinking the Protein Shakes and it really helped. I'm now 3 months postop and feel great

I am 12 days out of surgery. Feel the same way, but read the FAQs on VSG. It addresses being tired as -Hey, you just had MAJOR surgery. We have had 3/4 of our stomach removed. Our bodies need to readjust to the change. It will go way when it will go away..

Tired and sleepy is normal. The first week after surgery I had energy to waste but then I was taking naps here and there. I was only able to walk 10 minutes max but gradually increased every few days. Now I'm 12 weeks post op and have a lot more energy , more than expected

I'm glad I read this thread because I honeslty thought something was wrong with me. I'm having the same tiredness and light headedness- I do 60g of Protein a day and drink plenty of fluids. My husband seem to think its because I'm still on my liquid diet and my body needs food.< /p>

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
