How much did you lose before surgery, and how quickly is it coming off now? In my 2 week prep I've only lost 10#. They put me on liquids for 2 meals and 1 regular meal a day. I was fine until the lap band was emptied. Now I'm hungry all the time. Luckily I haven't gained any back, but it would be sooo easy to!

My surgery date was changed to the third, so I'm only one day ahead of you. I'm happy to hear your age, we're not alone in our Quest to be healthy and happy at our age! I don't know about you, but my doctor hasn't blinked an eye about my request for the sleeve, and hasn't referred to age being a problem for this surgery, nor did my PCP. They seem to be be of the opinion we should just go for it!. I am getting nervous though, but excited too. Never thought I'd be excited about shopping at Goodwill for "new" clothes, but I'm starting to think this really is going to happen! Dreading the actual surgery and hoping the hospital stay will go by quickly! Let me know how you do on Friday. Good luck on an uneventful, successful surgery with only good things coming at you afterwards!

I lost 40#before surgery. Had to do 6 months weight loss before my insurance would pay. I have lost a total of 63#. It is not coming off as fast after surgery as I thought that it would but it is coming off.

Good luck to you both. Can not wait to hear updates.

Ok, got sleeved on Thursday. 4 hour surgery because of the lap band and a large hiatal hernia (I never knew I had). Because of the long surgery I'm just now going home, but I'm feeling pretty good right now! Doc decided to keep me on the lovenox (blood thinner) for a week at home because I'm not 25 anymore! First reference to my age he's ever made. The hardest part of the surgery is getting in and out of bed...I don't know how the Tummy Tuck people do it!

Don't know if I've lost any weight while here, so I'll weigh as soon as I get home.

So except for being sleepy due to pain meds I'm doing really well!

Skuper, what's your hospital story?

Now I'm really needing a buddy. Came home Saturday afternoon from hospital..weighed. What a mistake! I'd put back on the 10 pounds I'd lost before surgery, I assume from the IV for nearly 3 days. I'm down 8 pounds now from that 10, but having a terrible time with liquids. NOTHING tastes good, especially Water. It's noon and so far after vomiting up water and diluted apple juice, I've managed to get 8 oz. of liquid in me! And depression has set in and I'm crying, crying. I don't know why. I'm thinking this was the dumbest thing I've ever done in my life!

I'm not in much pain at all and had no pain meds since about 10 last night. Maybe coming down from the meds is causing the tears. I've decided to try ice chips to get liquid in me. I'm tired of sweet tasting drinks and broths. Sorry I'm so blue on here.

Got to hospital Sept 4th at 8:30 for 10:30 surgery Everything was done and I was in my room by 1:00pm. Very little pain other than some gas pain. Was up and walking by 3:00. Left hospital next day at 3:00pm. Having a little trouble taking my daily pills but otherwise doing great.

Hey there! I was just reading some of these posts and wanted to check in on you and see how you are doing? Have things gotten a little easier for you? My surgery date was 9/2 and I totally know what u were going through. :(

@Skuper. I am amazed how flawlessly things went for you. I'm truly not a high pain whiner, but things took twice as long for me! I'm so glad you had a good surgical experience. I think mine was so poor because I couldn't get up for over 24 hrs before my first walk. Why, I'll never know. I kept telling them I thought I should be getting up. Then coming off the pain meds at home made me weepy. However, today I finally lost my first pound (plus the 10# the IV put back into me), so down a total of 11. That's making me feel great!

@ Vanessa. How did you lose 55# already if your surgery was last week? I'm excited and happy for you, but want to know your secret!

My starting weight was 410 back June 5. Surgery date was 9/2 and I was 367. Today I'm 349. Not sure that I ever said that I lost 55 pounds ... actually I never said I lost 55 pounds since surgery.

Looking for someone who can relate to a 67 yo grandma in Chicagoland area. Band to sleeve with hernia surgery in one fell swoop and feeling a little apprehensive.

I went band (removed in February) to sleeve and had hiatal hernia repair on 9/2/15. How are things going for you?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
