Seattle Sleevers?

Thanks for the advice! Yes, I've got 3 different scenarios mapped out to accommodate how I'm feeling. I'm hoping I will be able to lecture for about an hour a day and then send my students off to do learning application. Worst case though, I could just be online for a week.

Things didn't work out with my surgery yesterday. I had too much scar tissue from a previous abdominal surgery so I'm rescheduled for next Tuesday at Evergreen Hospital instead of the surgical center. I have another pre-op with my surgeon on Monday, and I'm expecting him to tell me that he might need to do my surgery open instead of laparoscopically. Hoping I can find people who've had open so I can get some idea of what to expect as far as recovery. Hoping 2 weeks off will be enough, but ultimately, I'll do whatever I need to do to get through this!

Oh wow, sorry you had to go through that disappointment. Good luck in finding a workable solution. :)

I am from Yakima but i am also having surgery at PSB with Dr. Billings. Dr.Kaufman did my preop and he seemed like a very caring and thorough surgeon! Good look to you! I am having surgery in 6 days aaahhhhh!

Surgery went off without a hitch on 9/15. My recovery has been great & I was back to work today. And yes, Dr Kaufman is great… but I'm totally biased!! Good luck with your surgery!

:) Hi, everyone! I'm new to this site..My surgery is scheduled for Thursday, 11/19/15 @ Virginia Mason w/ Dr. Lily Chang. I am so glad to find a WA support group...I'm "a few miles away" from most of the posters...we're out in Monroe,WA--but it is so comforting to find "local support" ..I'm on the pre-op diet phase right now--and it is encouraging, amazing, overwhelming..all sorts of emotions...as I get ready for this life-changing event on 11/19/15.

I hope to get to know y'all better as we make this journey together!

Hi everyone! I had Vsg surgery last January, in Mexico. Fabulous experience and doing really well! I hit my goal by July/aug and an sitting about 10lbs under now. This journey will literally consume your life for a year ( as it needs to!) I just feel now I'm able to put my focus elsewhere and just "live" always have my goals in the back of my mind though. ( hydration, calorie intake, exercise!)

I went from a size 18 to a 4. I can run miles, I feel great! This journey is worth every hard day it took to get here. :) I live locally in the Seattle area!

Hello, fellow Seattlites! I don't have a date yet, but am jumping through each pre-op "hoop" and thinking over my choices. VSG seems to be a good option, and the folks at Northwest Weight Loss Surgery have been very helpful. I saw the dietitian on Monday, and will have my psych intake just before Christmas.

I already had my upper endoscopy, and had to postpone thoughts of surgery to deal with the three bleeding ulcers I did not know I had. No more oral Toradol for me! :-)

I am enjoying reading everybody's stories, and getting a solid "heads up" on all the possible issues I can face. Many thanks!

I haven't been on here for a while so hope everyone is doing well post-op (or pre-op). Just an update - I was sleeved 8/31 and I'm down 60 pounds as of today. Really I have about 75 to go but I'll be thrilled if I lose another 60. I've doing good on eating and Vitamins, trying really hard on Water, and not doing enough exercise but my energy seems good. I'm losing a little hair but I'm not bald yet! I'm happy with where I am so far but feel impatient when I see stories from people who have reached their goal. But I know I can do it too - just need to avoid sliding back into old high-carb habits. Happy holidays!

I'm getting sleeved at Puget Sound Surgical Center by Dr. Harris on 2/1/16. I'm super nervous! Reading everyone's experience has helped tho. I have 120 lbs to lose.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
