My date is Aug 31 and I am excited. I am a self pay in MI, so the process has been very fast and efficient. I am currently 341 lbs. and I am anxious to break free from this fat prison that I have locked myself into.

Awesome!!!! Congrats to you. How do you feel?

Still have a lot of gas pain when I drink liquids. Hopefully that will go away soon. I am on full liquids so I did just successfully eat a Greek yogurt with almost no discomfort. Taking that as a major win.

The day after surgery (9/1) which was also my wedding anniversary, was awful. I had the worst nausea ever. My surgeon was concerned because he checked on me between every case that day. However, once I received something to help me sleep that night, I felt so much better. I couldn't take the pain meds because they contributed to the nausea. Each day has gotten better. I am home and focusing on getting liquids and Protein in which is hard, but I'm committed. I just remind myself that this won't last forever. I am learning to take things day by day.

cslove, that's good to hear. I'm sorry about the pain meds and nausea. I worry about that because I get nauseous so very easy. Congratulations again on your surgery and your journey. I'm sure it's totally new way to live. Nice to hear your commitment, I can only imagine how difficult it is. Do you have a week or two for the post op liquid diet? Continue to feel better and hang in there?

Fabulous forties ladies! I am one of them! I am 41. I plan on shedding this extra weight with revision to bypass in November. And hopefully reach my goal weight by summer time next year. I keep hoping that I will get to my original weight, but 6 pounds 11 ounces is not realistic hehehe. :D

All joking aside, let's face it its so much harder to lose weight in our 40"s than it was whenever we were 20. With our WLS tools, we can all reach our goals and a healthier life:)

Hey I'm 41 and today I have my pretesting at the hospital for an ekg and venous testing as well as blood works. Hope I get surgery soon. I've been battling my weight in my 20s 30s and I refuse to go through this in my 40s tired of everyone telling me your pretty but try to lose weight ????I can relate to so many who have tried on there own but can't seem to lose the weight. And when I do I gain it make just as fast

I'm hoping you ladies get to share the secret that life gets better as you get older!

Having just turned 60, my 50's with WLS were better (WLS at 51) than I even hoped.my 40's were a dark heavy time for me and now life is way different .....without the burden and head trip of 90+ extra lbs!

Best of luck and keep posting⭐️

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
