in network v out of network

While I wait to hear back from my surgeons office... How is using an out of network surgery center with an in network doctor dramatically less than in network for both? I have UHC.

You are going to be stuck paying for almost all of the hospital stay and the surgery. The doctor part is very small compared to all the hospital charges.

I wouldn't do it. Self Pay would be cheaper some place else.

Why isn't the surgery center in the network? Will they even approve the surgery with a center not in the network? Most insurance won't.
