I had lapband on 5/29/2013. did great first year. lost 81 lbs. but last july the band slipped a tiny bit which caused constant reflux. the reflux killed my esophagus. the final year I was unfilled and every attempt to put some fill in caused my esophagus to spasm. my doctor decided on the revision and I was certainly up for it. post op I have done remarkably well. no complications at all. not even the gas. I am able to drink without problem and take in enough Protein. it's sorta scary that everything is good. I feel like the shoe is going to drop. I look forward to interacting with everyone. I was pretty active on the lapband forum.

does anyone know how to change my surgery type on my profile? I have tried everything. thanks

OMG are we the same person?? Lol. I was banded in 2010 again in 2013 and revised to bypass 7/31. I am having no issues either and am nervous. I have even eaten eggs already with no problems. I am hoping because I had sooooo many issues with the band reflux sticking always hungry could never eat without vomiting it up..... This just works better for me.

Very interesting. I had a VBG in Oct 2002 and have never been able to eat dense fruits, vegetables or meats without reflux issues. After all these years, I am in the process of being approved for removal of the VBG and revising to something else - Still to be determined. I also developed a hiatal hernia which will be repaired at the same time. We are hoping for surgery in either December or January depending on insurance.

Update...as you know I am trying hard to get my paperwork in for submission. In addition to the hiatal hernia, torturous esophagus,GERd,I have mild sleep apnea...the pulmonary dr is convinced I need a cpap...had me fitted...also an additional breath test.I told him he is holding me up!!!!.Went to see the surgeon at the request of the nutritionist.....turns out that bump is a flipped port...it has been protruding for a long time...port pain...everyone is moving fast now..Scheduled for December 28...yipee!!!Lets just see what insurance has to say....just had psych visit so we will see...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
