Help Me, I'm turning into a Snackasaurus!!

Recommended Posts

Is anyone else having snacking issues? I'm finding that i'm eating less at meals, but i'm snacking more....popsicles (Sugar Free and/or regular-whatever I can get my hands on) crackers, popcorn, chips if they are close (usually NOT-I DO NOT buy them) yogurt, cheese and/or whatever anyone near me is eating...after I eat dinner and feel full, i'll feel like snacking 1-2 hours later, it's harder during the day since i'm working, but i'm making up for it at night and my weight isn't dropping...does anyone have any suggestions for good "snack" foods that satisfy and don't add up? Or better yet will more fill help me with that or does that even make a difference? HELP the poor Snackasaurus...:help::P:eek::help:

:faint:

I'm with you on wanting to snack. It's just bad, bad, bad....

It's a behavior control thing, IMO. Maybe you (we) need to eat more satisfying foods at meal time. I'm curious to see what the board has to say.

Unfortunately the snack monster often has little to do with actually being hungry/not satisfied. I also have a victim of this monster quite frequently. One of the things that works best is keeping my hands occupied with something I don't want to get food on, such as yarn work, or video game controllers, lol.

Sometimes, I will make shaved ice in my blender, and put sugar free Syrup on it for a snow cone like thing. ;)

I wish I had time to scrapbook, like yarn I don't want to get food on my paper!

But I'm in school and working full time. It's so easy to eat while reading.

I'll fight the snackasaurous!

Yes, I have to battle this constantly.

The band works for me in that I eat and then dont "feel" hungry for several hours in that my stomach wont tell me its hungry by rumbling and feeling empty.

Instead I just get headaches, the shakes, nausea and dizziness. My band may restrict me to however many calories per day, doesnt mean my body can run on it. Since a fill to 2.6 where I could stil eat substantial amounts for a bandster, it still obviously wasnt enough for my body and from being a 3 meals a day eater, I really did begin to snack, now at 2.9 I HAVE to or I'm nauseous and ill by evening. Without my stomach rumbling once.

I do run a lot and an EXTREMELY active, I can lose weight on up to 1800 calories a day, when I let my band have its way I probably get in 1000 to 1200 these days so I have to make the effort to slip just a little more in or I suffer.

I hate that you cant edit easily on here now, ARGH.

Anyway, I said *battle* because head hunger is a problem to me becuase obviously my body wants food whether my stomach is telling me so or not, I have to be careful to plan a sensible snack is what I meant, otherwise I do just snack snack snack and pick pick pick on crap.

What kind of Snacks do you find satisfying? (You have been pretty successful with the band so I value your input)

thanks,

Renee

I'll have to try that, my favorite past time is catching up on all the programs i've recorded (when I watch "Big Medicine" about obese patients I find my snacking subsides somewhat) and playing on my laptop, both very conducive to snacking!! When i'm away from home and shopping, not eating so much, but it can be damaging to my pocketbook!!!:faint:

I find anything with Peanut Butter satisfying, lol - celery, apple, a cracker or two, or I might have one or two crackers with a very small amount of cheese, maybe some hommus and rice crackers, most often I try to eat fruit since I cant fit it in at mealtimes.

Dear M,

I found Hawaiian Punch (Light) satisfies my cravings for sweets and Snacks, it's only 10 calories for an 8 oz serving.

If I need to chew on something I eat 4 or 5 crackers or some tortilla chips. I also allow myself a planned dessert every day. I have a rice pudding in those little cups in the cooler isle or popcorn single serving size or a peice of fruit. Believe me It's been a tough battle for me on the lapband and I've had to learn to eat slower and get more Protein in each meal because it does stick with you longer and to try not to drink at least 30 minutes after meals. Hope this helps.......

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
