Bless your heart. LOL!

Almost 2 months out and I'm missing having a beer, I only have 1or 2 every few weeks, but u haven't tried, it's confusing reading all thee pros and cons on the Net, some professionals are for and an equal number are against, having the same problem with sweeteners VS sugar, but I'm sure in a few more weeks I will have a beer, we take chance even discussing it on this forum since it is an open invitation for some to judge and jump down our throats, but hey they are just going by what they've heard or read also, I'm pretty sure that if you have your diet under control and choose to have a drink once in awhile there really shouldn't be a problem unless you see an increase in frequency, and begin craving it all the time, the displaced addiction thing they talk about...... CHEERS!!!!!

I can say I do not miss alcohol at all

I had my first drink last weekend and I am over one year post op. It was a mixed drink. I tolerated it fine. No pain or problems with my stomach. I am not a drinker so it will probably be months before I drink again. I would rather eat my calories-LOL

  • 3 weeks later...

I know I am only 20 post op but I was wondering if I will ever be able to have alcohol. Preferably red wine.

Sure. But not now, for goodness sakes!

I started drinking wine at 5.5 months post-op.

Many others waited a full year.

when did your doctor give you the ok to drink

I started drinking at 2 months post op.

I know this is a little early but it is hard because a lot of your social life is going out to eat/grabbing a drink.

I couldn't physically sit down and eat a whole meal but sometimes unwinding with a few friends and drink is good for the soul.

I was very cautious about what I was drinking though- I didn't want to drink the empty calories, carbs and suffer later by not losing weight.

So I invited friends over to my place- I bought Tito's vodka (which is less than half the calories [60] of other regular vodkas] and also bought Diet Cranberry juice- which i believe had 3g carbs and a lot less of everything else and very low calorie.

I drank 2 of these and felt great. No stomach pain/ didn't bother my stomach/ and had a good buzz- wasn't shit faced.

I think you need to follow your body's signals when it comes to certain things and not be so hard on yourself.
