How long did you have between ins approv. and surgery?

Recommended Posts

How long did you have between insurance approval and surgery? I know it is going to vary largely by clinic, but I am trying to get an idea of what I can expect for my timeline. I am in a serious time crunch, and my office is not being particularly proactive in getting me scheduled...

@@skyjones I'm doing well. The first 2 days post op were challenging but now im starting to figure things out. Once the staples were removed a lot of the discomfort subsided. I have the same challenges as everyone else: figuring out how to get all Protein and fluids in on a daily basis and figuring out more variety in my meal choices. Im staying positive and active (i've been walking a lot) trying to avoid disappointment by not weighing too often ( goal is maybe 1/wk)

For the lap band surgery it was 2 months. For the revision to the sleeve it was 2 weeks.

I was approved 7 weeks ago and my surgery is the 29th. My surgeons office may do it different but I needed to get approval from insurance before they had me do all the pre-op testing and get PCP clearance. Unfortunately, it took me over 3 weeks to get in to see my PCP.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
