My surgery is just 5 days away...

Hello all!

As my title says, I am 5 days out from surgery. I had my pre-op visit with my surgeon today, Dr. Harvey Rainville in Glen Ridge, NJ and looks like I'm all set to go. I was told that it was only one night in the hospital but I requested that I stay for two nights as my Brother, who basically takes care of me will be having very severe spinal surgery in just a few weeks and is living in excruciating pain; he is just not able to handle me right away. Dr. said fine and will keep me in the hospital even if I am fine to go. He is such a nice man! Also, since my first visit with him three months ago, I have lost 22.5 lbs, that made both the Dr. and me very happy. Wish me luck.

Thanks and be safe and healthy and of course  HAPPY!

I think you are very wise to request the 2nd day. My doctor booked me for three. He nearly released me at the end of day two, but wanted me passing gas from both ends before I went home. Instead of just burping. Of course I started dating 15 minutes after his visit.

But through day two it was nice to have nurses to help bring drinks, ice chips and help adjust the bed. Also I do not think my blood pressure returned to normal until well into the second day. And I had a catheter that they removed early day two.

Good luck next week!

Good Luck
