One day post op - joining the losers bench!

Recommended Posts

So I had my RNY yesterday. I have been home for a few hours. The only problem that I am experiencing so far is how hard it is to get up and back down from nearly everything, the toilet, sitting in a chair, on a bed, etc. Once i am up, walking is not too bad. But getting up and down is really tough. Please tell me this gets easier in the next few days.

I don't have any advice to offer as mine isn't until 07/29.

But I want to share my heartfelt congratulations for crossing over! As I've read on here a zillion times from experienced vets, the first week is always the roughest, but it gets better everyday.

A zillion vets can't be wrong! ????

Try and get some rest and I hope you feel better soon.

Congratulations! You are well on your way to recovery now and yes it does get easier every single day! I promise!

The only advice I can give you is to take one day at a time and walk as much as you possibly can I between drinking as much liquid as you possibly can. Hydration is the most important thing for your body.

It will help push all that gas which is causing the majority of your pain out of your body faster.

Sip & walk, sip & walk!

Good luck and I really hope your recovery is speedy and your pain lessens!

thank you all so much for your support! I have been on this site since January reading everyones posts. The support from all of you is going to help me through this. My parents and friends do not support me through this. My fiancee' does, but the surgery was tough on him (he cried during the entire surgery until he could see me again). it means a lot to have to support from this site!!

I am 2 weeks 2 days post op and feeling better already! I lost around 30 lbs since pre-surgery diet and life is already easier. Although emotions have run high lately, which I hear is pretty normal. It doesn't help that I am at a small stall with my weight. Tilting between 292 and 295. Frustrating! Anybody else at this point? Needing a bit of encouragement. I think I posted in the wrong place. ????

I had my surgery on the 8th and I can move around pretty good. I'm having trouble with my shakes and staying hydrated. I just don't feel good and everything I think about eating or drinking makes me queasy. Also yesterday and today my emotions have been all over the place. I'm scared, maybe I can't do this.

#Stacylynn315 - hang in there!!! I am moving around better now for sure. I have to say, my emotions are up and down as well. I read on this site that it seems to be a common thing - although not pleasant :(. So far for me, my energy level has been one of the main reasons why I am not keeping as hydrated as I should. If I nap a bit, that puts me behind sipping on my drinks. I too have come to a point where the shakes are getting hard to get down. I was on the two week liquid pre-op diet and used them a lot then. Now, I am really all set with them from here on out even though I know I still need to get them down. For me, the colder they are, the better. Also, I try to "change things up" but adding a drop of coffee extract or mint to my chocolate Protein. I have been a bit scared too. Thinking about the "permanency" of my surgery. Take a look around on this site at the "before and after" pictures people have posted. We all have had the dream of being thinner and happier or we would not be here. That has helped me a bit to get through. STAY STRONG - YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! We can do this. We share the same surgery date and appear to be going through the same phases. I would love to talk to you more

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
