Hair loss, dating, and energy...ugh

Recommended Posts

So here I am, almost 8 months out, I have lost about a hundred pounds... Go me, right? I look great, but I don't feel it. I'm starting to wonder if the Hair loss will ever stop. Yes I take Biotin, I also take magnesium and zinc. I dated for the first time in like 10 years, got my heart broke... But the surprising part is how fragile I am emotionally, and I'm not sure if that is tied to the surgery, weight loss, and all the things that go with it. My last thing is that I'm surprised at how little energy I have. I am getting in all of my Protein and staying track on my calories. I am diligent about my Vitamins daily, and my blood work is right on track... Anyone else experiencing this?

Congratulations on your weight loss. I did not experience any hair loss as a result of surgery. My stamina which I describe as the ability to perform physical labor has increased substantially. Generally many problems associated with WLS are related to not meeting Fluid, Vitamin and Protein requirements. Since it sounds like your Vitamin and Protein requirements are being met, how are you doing on fluids?

By any chance do you know if the blood work surgeon does includes Thyroid panel? Only reason I ask is that sometimes surgery can affect thyroid (I think) and it might be worth checking out.

Congrats on your weight loss!

I could use about 10 more oz of fluids per day, but nothing drastic. Also, I'll have my surgeon look at the thyroid.. good idea James.

Are you getting enough exercise? Anesthesia affects your energy for about a year (for major surgery) and it takes a bit to build back up.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
