Just received my surgery date, 8/6/15. I'm on my second day of 14 days taking Optifast 800. Yummy, vanilla and chocolate are good, strawberry, so so. I'm really excited for the 6th to get here, I'm more than ready. Looking forward to following everyone's progress.

My date is August 12th. It sounds like we all have different pre-surgery diets to follow. Mine is two days of fluids, then I add a salad on the third day, then salad and vegetables, then add rice, then add chicken on the last two days. Then I repeat. But fluids only for the three days prior to surgery.

What is everyone else doing?

Did all of my pre surgery tests and registered at the hospital yesterday. I'm on a 1500 calorie low fat high Protein diet. It hasn't been too bad. Other than that I have no pre surgery requirements. I'm scheduled for 11:00 am on the 4th. I'm ready.

Just learned today that my insurance is approved and that my surgery is scheduled August 4th!

Thanks to you folks at BariatricPal, I learned how to navigate insurance requirements. Many of you veterans and newbies generously gave of your time to answer posts from people like me. You taught me how to find information about my specific insurance plan and how to follow the approval process on my own. You gave me a heads up about what might happen at the psych evaluation.

When I look back at my last six months, I realized just how much you filled in the missing areas of information as well as prepared me for how quickly events occur at the end of pre-op visits. I live in a rural area and have received only the bare minimum of guidance from my bariatric center, although it is a Bariatric Center of Excellence. Maybe I needed to ask more questions.

Spending time to navigate all over this site has led me to so many invaluable areas. I've been around here long enough to know that each day will have a new stall question and sheepishly admit to zeroing in to rants and raves when I feel the need for a bit of drama.

Posts here can be sources of encouragement or annoyance, just like the rest of the population. The ignore option has proved very useful tamping down my repeated irritation with some folks. ;-)

I am very grateful that one of my bariatric books led me here. My nutritionists, "lifestyle coach," psych evaluator and PCP did not know anything about it. (and did not show much interest when I tried to share information with them)

My level of preparation is directly due to all the advice I've found here. Many thanks. You know I'll be here for the rest of this journey.

What do you all have to do leading up to your surgery? I've got to watch a video series, classes, and preop testing. Plus, we meet with the surgeon three days before the surgery. Should be fun and busy. ????

I'm scheduled for August 4th. I've done all the pre-op mumbo jumbo and now I'm on the liquid diet. I'm feeling very optimistic! :)

I go on the 30th for my nutrition class and pre op tests (chest X-ray and blood work), then August 5th for my pre op diet liquid pick up, then August 12th is the big day!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
