Hello, I have had my band for 5 years.. The only weight I ever lost was in the first year then I just had problems getting my band to the right tightness. I developed heart burn and acid reflux problems not to mention it has turned me bulimic. I am at my pre surgery weight and I have nothing left in my band yet everything seems to get stuck. Has anyone had the Lap band removed and did the sleeve? I just want this band out and I don't feel like bypass is for me. I just need some advice.. What were the pros and cons, have you had any problems? I want the good and the bad! TIA

I'm doing it Tuesday! Had band out after almost 8 years in April. I had lost all my weight then had a ton of problems like you described. Gained over past 3 years. Feels crappy to be here again but I am grateful to have another chance.

Yes, I did it on June 1st. I was throwing up everything I ate with the band. So far, so good. My surgeon said he only removed about 70% of the stomach instead of the normal 80% to make sure with the scarring from the band I wouldn't have leaks around where the esophagus meets the stomach. So I've been able to eat a little more than usual once I got to solids.

I'm very happy at this point. My port would move and hit a nerve and cause sharp pain in my stomach. I don't have that any longer. My food stays down. I can eat chicken again - I could never eat chicken in any shape, sort or form after my band. I haven't had problems with any kind of lean Protein so far.

The band is awful! I can't eat any Protein without it coming up no matter how small or how much I chew. I'm not gonna lie I have been reading some really bad things about the sleeve and it makes me nervous that it's a newer procedure. I'm glad to hear your doing well with it. Did they take the band out the same day?

Just problems people are having with leaking, gallbladder issues after surgery some people had no choice but to then do bypass because of issues which I DO NOT want at all. That's why I went with the band I didn't want my insides mangled and re-routed and the sleeve was not offered. I was reading some of the forums on this site

My mother did it a month ago and so far she's doing great.

I had the band put in 5/2010. Lost 50#. Was never able to get a fill without terrible complications. I ended up gaining 15# back, but threw up after eating almost anything. It was not fun. Went to see surgeon in June 2014. He ran tests and said the band should come out. I was scared I did not want to gain back the 35#. By pass scared me from the begining. He explained the sleeve to me, and I started the process. Oct. 6, I had surgery. I could not be happier. I am down 70# since 10/2014, 105 since 5/2010. I could not do it by myself. I had tried it all. Yes this is just a tool and there are things i have given up. I walk a mile religiously every day, sometimes more. I feel the best I have felt in over 30 years. Like anything, there were days I doubted my decison, but in the long run totally worth it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
