I'll be using my care credit. I have some appointments in the Dallas area next month. Drs. Kim, Nicholson (Carlton), and one other. My friend Deb is there and we want to try to do it together. I hope one of them can do the "making surgery affordable" plan since I'm self pay. Crossing my fingers, eyes, and toes!

I understand completely!

I visited Dr. Kim's office, but I don't think our personalities meshed very well. He's a very skilled surgeon, but I wanted someone I felt more comfortable with through this whole journey.

I'm going with Dr. Scott Stowers now. He's awesome and he works with the cash pay price in a way that makes it cheaper than Dr. Kim's.

Whoever you go with, it's so exciting! Good luck :)

Got Surgery date today! It will be August 24th. I was hoping it would've been a little sooner since I started at the end of January but I'll take it! Going to keep on losing on my own til it gets here! I'm 250 5' 5" (started at 299.8). I really want to be under 200 by Christmas!

That's so exciting! I'm 5'5" starting at 360 and I'm hoping to be at 250 by the end of February. Hehe maybe a little too bold of a goal, but hey better to have one than none at all, right? :)

pretty in pink, Dr Kim did my inverted sleeve 3 years ago. He's awesome! Do you have any insurance at all with an exclusion of bariatrics? I know he has and affordable program of $4900 if you have a hiatal hernia. What I love about Dr Kim's office is the amazing life long after surgery support. We do monthly runs, get togethers, fitness events, and more! You have a great opportunity to get to know a lot of his patients through the private patient only Facebook support group. Its helped me be successful in keeping my 90 lbs off! good luck to your journey!

. I love my Dr! Dr Adam Smith with Fort Worth lap band. He did sleeve on me and takes carecredit. FYI DR. Kim's practice has a 10million dollar law suit against them. You can google. It wasn't dr Kim directly but an associate Dr. that was involved but it is pretty awful case.

I have a feeling that he is who I will go with. Especially since Deb has already consulted and liked him right away. I'll be in Dallas next week!

I Googled and saw that. Dun-dun-dunnnnnnn! So sad for that man. They stated it was not Dr. Kim but another doctor as you mentioned. Sad case indeed.

I too used Dr Kim at Kim Bariatric Institute! He performed my gastric sleeve in 2011 and I've since lost 100+ lbs. Great office staff and wonderful aftercare! We also have a private support group for 24/7 support along your journey. In regards to the gentleman who lost his legs.....yes, a very sad story reported on TV/online....but unfortunately....not the whole story. Dr Kim was not at the hospital and a new Dr hired by KBI was there to assist/observe Dr Holden....unfortunately she chose to start the procedure on her own. Fortunately for the gentleman, Dr Holden came into the OR and saved his life!!! The other Dr is now practicing at another facility. Please, do not judge KBI by the story that has not reported all the facts. We wish you all the best with whoever you use!!

I am a patient of Dr. Smith's too. He did my lapband in 2006 and my band removal this past spring. I really like him. My sleeve surgery is August 3rd.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
