Do I Need a 3rd Fill??

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I would really appreciate your advice. I had my 2nd fill 3 weeks ago. Sometimes I notice more restriction but it's not consistent. I can still gulp Water and tonight I was able to eat 2 large pieces of whole wheat toast with no problems. I have 4cc in a 9cc midband.

Should I go for a 3rd fill or am I worrying too much about trying to find that elusive sweet spot?

It really depends if you're losing or not.

There's no *should* about being able to eat this or that, if you're losing weight. I managed to lose all of my excess weight down to a normal healthy weight without ever finding a sweetspot or giving up bread.

I just figure, the more you can eat and the greater variety, the better nourished you are going to be, the less chance of losing hair, etc etc. As long as you're still losing weight.

When you stop losing or feel you are putting in inordinate amounts of effort to lose, or worse you are overeating and gaining, then its time for another fill.

I'm going for one this afternoon for the precisely the same reason.I ate muesli AND toast for Breakfast this morning. Which is absolutely fine for weight maintenance, which I've been doing for months. But I really want to fine tune and get a bit more off so I can reason "well I can eat toast, so I have a lot of leeway to play with". I know I can get a small fill without getting too tight if I can scarf down a bowl of muesli and a piece of toast in one sitting.

But if I were still losing weight I wouldnt worry about being able to do that.

Does that make sense?

Yes, that makes sense. It's always good to get advice from more experienced and successful bandsters, like yourself. Thanks and I hope your fill went well.

If you are able to eat 2 pieces of toast it may be time. I can only eat 1/2 of a piece of toast. Also, if you are able to eat more than 1/2 cup to 1 cup of food (1 cup being too much) and not losing it is time. It all depends on if you are losing or not.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
