It kinda makes you have buyers remorse to a degree doesn't it? The only thing is my doc wants us off of the shakes at 6 weeks and eating. I just don't see how that's possible. I'm almost a month out and the things that they said I can / should be eating make me feel like crap afterward. On a positive note im,dropping the pounds like crazy ????

My Doc admitted he was new to these surgeries but the most important thing is to nourish the body, how ever I come about it. I must admit, I didn't feel ready for full solid food so I guess we are all different. But he did say that under no circumstances should I push my body if it either hurt or made me sick.. if the tummy is a little bit swollen, solid food would hurt like hell soooo listen to your body first..

I think I was about 35lbs out when I really started to finally see the difference -- mainly in my face. It was hard to eat and drink after surgery. It was as if I didn't have the willpower -- I just didn't want to eat or drink, and I can't explain why. But it went away.

I also loved eggs prior to surgery. Now I'm just like "Ehh, I'm too lazy to make them."

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
