I have not posted in over a year, but today I went on my annual zoo trip to Celebrate my new life. I had my surgery in June 2012 and I am 3 years post op. I had a rough first few months. I threw up a lot and generally thought I had made a mistake. However then the weight started to come off and I was able to get into smaller and smaller sizes. Finally my pouch and I figured things out. I am able to eat anything I want at this point. I feel like I finally eat like a normal person. I got my dream job about a year after surgery. I am really active now and completed my first triathlon in October last year.

I started out weighing 256 and today I weigh about 143. I went from a size 22 to a 2-4.

Please know that things get better and the weight will come off. All your dreams are possible!

I have added my official before and after picture that I take every year at the zoo! post-187341-14334780667909_thumb.jpg post-187341-14334780769561_thumb.jpg

@@music1618, WOW!!! and thank you for posting, I'm going into surgery Friday, and so am nervous, I've had a lot of people tell me, "you just need to diet and exercise," and repeat a story about one man they know who regained all his weight, and more! But then I see your and other people's pictures and I know it's possible! Wow post-op three years!!! You look awesome!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
