One week post op, I was just able to drink 10oz of juice....

Is it normal? I was able to do that within 15 minutes, ice cold Apple juice, with no discomfort whatsoever.

Feel pretty full, but there's no pain, discomfort or reflux.

Fluids are not the same as solids. Many people don't experience much restriction with fluids, because they just pass right through your sleeve. Those who DO feel restriction with fluids do so only because of swelling. If you were able to watch your barium swallow test-post op, you would have seen an ounce or so of Fluid moving right through your sleeve in a matter of seconds. I got to watch mine and it was literally 2-3 seconds from the time the liquid entered my stomach to the time it passed through my pyloric valve.

PS: as a general rule, you should be mixing juice with Water 50/50 post-op, not drinking it straight.

juice, even mixed with Water is really not a good idea. It is just sugar, maybe has some Vitamins, but not worth the calories.

The juice is fine when you're on liquids only. We have to get our carbs from somewhere, and my nutritionist recommended diluted juice or G2. I'm struggling to get the recommended 30 grams of carbs in.

I was the same when I was on liquids. I got worried that I was able to drink too much but that changed drastically as soon as I went on to purees and then solid food. Even at 7 months out I can take in a pretty normal amount of water/ liquid (like 8 oz or more) but can really only eat about 5-6 oz of food per sitting. Just be careful with the juices. I recommend Decaf tea with a little lemon and fake sugar or agave if you are getting tired of Water.

As we've all seen everyone's surgeon and NUT have different ideas. I was told never, ever to drink juice in any shape, sort or form.

I could drink ice cold Water at that level at one week post op. Or my Protein shake if it was really cold. I can only drink liquids when they are super cold.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
