What's the first food you cheated with after Gastric Sleeve Surgery?

Recommended Posts

I don't really have cheat foods. I eat what I want but I'm conscious of the portion and calories. I limit myself.

I don't think it's a long term plan to make certain foods forbidden. It only makes it harder to resist.

Luckily I have lost my taste for sweets. :)

My biggest and first cheat was about 3 weeks out and I went to a mates birthday and had a piece of cake! I resisted all the other food but I saw the cake and couldn't help myself..

@@carolscience I have determined that whey Protein absolutely destroys my stomach. I use metagenics when I need to drink shakes, my stomach tolerates it a whole lot better. I think it's rice protein. Somehow though, I just don't tolerate Protein Shakes well no matter what kind. Maybe it's just that I hate drinking them :-p

On the topic of "cheating"- it is a choice, plain and simple. I think a lot of us struggle with feeling out of control and wanting to indulge addictive habits. I don't agree with calling it cheating - it isn't a game. If you struggle with disordered eating behavior, get help. I know because I do too! I don't like that I come here for support and people post really triggering and graphic stories about cheating.

On the other hand, I wish people would encourage others to get help rather than shaming them for slipping up. That's never been effective in helping anyone change their behavior!

It's been over 12 months since & im at goal actually trying to maintain or keep from losing anymore. I eat what I want in super moderation & my "cheat thing" is frozen coke. So yummy & zero carbonation only frozen coke satisfaction.

Oh, I'm SO gonna try this!! Carbonation is the only thing my sleeve can't do. Wonder how frozen beer tastes?!?

I wouldn't consider what I'm doing cheating. I'm at goal weight & have an issue maintaining weight. I eat all foods in moderation. & I do indulge in a frozen coke it doesn't hurt my stomach at all & it's very satisfying.

I'm not sure how frozen beer would taste lol

@@KristaSilliman I can totally relate to the frozen coke fix. That was my go to treat almost every night before I started my low carb diet to get ready for surgery. Coca Cola was one of my addictions but I gave them up to lose weight.

The problem is that most addicts replace one addiction with another. Now my new thing is Diet Cherry Limeade!

Right now I'm eating a small bag of Cheetos & drinking a Dr Pepper but it's little over a year & i eat anything in moderation & as fast as the Dr Pepper it just takes a while to drink & ive drank them several times its not expanding my sleeve like people say. Once you lose the weight eat in moderation & I still eat healthy but I also can't stuff myself. So it's hard to maintain my weight without looking too thin, never thought I'd say that. Lol but yes too thin isn't a good look for me. I wish everyone much success & don't look at it as cheating as long as it's moderation. Happy Eating ????

I'm 8 months post and now 85 lbs down. You do what you gotta do because nothing can prepare you for the surgery. Good luck to you and have fun shedding the weight.

@@Ray92, until this surgery I never knew the attraction to hummus...now I do and occasionally eat it by itself on a spoon.

Potato chips. I was in my puree phase, and my boyfriend left his bag of chips in the kitchen. They were talking to me and I listened. I only had a small handful, and I let them get all mushy in my mouth, and they tasted sooooo good. However, Miss Tummy punished me for hours. I learned my lesson.

Lol, I had 1 cheese puff. I let it melt in my mouth 7 days out.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
