Did anyone loose weight on their pre-op diet

Recommended Posts

I'm 2 days away from my surgery and I've lost 16 pounds on my 2 week liver shrinkage diet. The nurse did say I should lose 21 pounds so I'm not far off, hopefully I can lose it before the big day!

I think I would have lost more If I had used the weight watchers Soup, but I couldn't cope with no flavour so I made my own Soups.

Being on this diet has prepared me for the journey I am about to take cause I think It would have been a big shock to the system otherwise. Getting nervous now though????????

I was required to lose 5% which was 12 pounds. I lost 22 pounds instead. 16 days of 3 Protein shakes/day plus unlimited leafy green veggies. I lost more on my preop than I did the first 3 months postop!

I've lost 12lbs in the first 4 days of my liquid diet. It was enough to keep me going...

I had to do a 2 week low carb diet and I was worried about losing to much as well so I asked my doctor. He said I already qualified so it didn't matter if I went below the BMI during the 2 week diet. That being said I lost 10 lbs and was at a 29 BMI the day I had my surgery. The 2 week low carb diet was really just to shrink the liver so it's easier to do the surgery.

1 week of liquids only and I lost quite a bit. I think it was around 10 pounds in that one week. Doc was pleased!

Im in the early stages of this process attending the informational meeting on 5/28. My BMI is kind of on the lower side 36.9. with High Blood Pressure. Im already concerned that during the pre op process I might lose enough weight to put me under 35 BMI and therefore maybe not qualifying. I feel like I need to bulk up before i start the actual process. Anyone have any info or advice?

I was concerned about something similar and what my doctor told me is that they send the BMI measurement from your FIRST visit, when it's at its highest, to the insurance company. I would double check with your surgeon to know for sure.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
