Can't lose this last 4 lbs

Recommended Posts

I made the decision to do the gastric sleeve and went to my first Dr's appt on Feb 25,2015. I was told to lose 10 pounds before they could schedule my surgery, I can't seem to get the last 4lbs off. Does anyone have any advice for me please.

What is your daily routine now?

Some days I will have a slim fast shake for Breakfast or I will have eggs and toast. Some days I don't eat lunch and for dinner I am watching my portions.

Try either just Protein Shakes for a couple days, or just lean Protein and green veggies cutting out all carbs and sugar for a few days. Lots of Water.< /p>

DON'T skip meals and no bread, rice, Pasta or potatoes. That should.do the trick.

I totally agree, do not skip your meals and drink a lot of Water. Try doing a little of walking to burn a couple of calories and get water weight out.

Google "how to cut weight". You can lose 4 pounds before your weigh-in in 24 hours. It's not something to do regularly and it's going to make you miserable, but if you want surgery bad enough, that is the way to get it scheduled quickly. Professional wrestlers and fighters regularly drop 10 pounds or way more the 48 hours before a weigh-in. The same techniques can easily drop you 4 pounds and as soon as you've weighed and left the office you start rehydrating. If the system wants to beat you up, beat the system back. :)

Take a Multi-Vitamin, an extra B12, and a calcium citrate plus D3, Vitamin. Drink three Protein Shakes a day ( I used Premier Protein from Costco), have a lettuce and veggie salad at night with low-no carb dressing. Drink 62 oz of Water a day. If you need more, heat up Pacific Coast Bone Broth (9 grams of Protein per serving). Eliminate carbs, low/no fat. I lost 13 lbs in three weeks. This was my pre-op diet as prescribed by my nutritionist. Premier Protein has 30 grams of protein, 1carb, and 165 calories per shake. Others might lose more/less. Good luck!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
