well Louise, sopposedly we could stretch out our pouches if we try to eat solids before we are completely healed. I'm not sure if it's right, it what I've heard. I was banded on the 24th of August, down 20lbs. so far. Mushies have been wonderful. I can't wait to be "filled" and see what else I can accomplish! Good Luck You Guys!!

Eating solids too soon after surgery can cause the band to slip because it hasnt had time to heal and get "seated" around the stomach. Do your best to follow your doctors recommendations on what to eat after surgery.

ok guys....I had my surgery on August 20th, I weighed 261 when I went in and am 248 now...down about 13ish lbs. Do you guys think I am on track so far. I am on the mushies stage and not eating 100% but pretty good. By that I mean that like today at lunch, I am having a cup of chili from tim hortons....it is ground really fine but it technically isn't 'pureed'. I guess I gage it by if I can mash it in my mouth with my tongue it is a puree...hell its softer than tuna fish....I am just afraid I should be losing more and I am trying so hard not to compare myself to anyone else. What do you guys think?

Watch out for the chili the meat in it is probly not lean enough for what you need. Although the Protein is great as it stands now I was banded on 15 Aug was 286 now 246 so I would say not too bad. try alot of fish and turkey ..get some low carb cook books will help alot. Keep going and believe in yourself and u just like me will get there

I would say based on my experience, you are completely normal. I had my surgery on the 22nd and the day of surgery I was 267 and today I am 252. I have strayed a bit from the mushies and have been eating roasted chicken chewed 4000 times, which to me is mushy. My doctor said this week I can start soft solids like the chicken I have been eating.

I lost a lot fast and then the last two weeks have been a pound here and a pound there. My doctor does not even want me to have my first fill for six more weeks, which kind of bums me out.

But long story short, I think you are right on track.

Holy crap, 40 pounds in one month! That is awesome. I thought I was doing good, but not after seeing your loss. What are you eating and how much? Have you had a fill?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
