6 days out and I'm feeling awful

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, today is post op day 6 for me and I'm a wreck. Extremely weak and fatigued. The pain has gotten better and I was finally able to have a BM last night, which made me feel somewhat better. I have just been having extreme feelings of regret. The reflux is unbearable. I've been waking up every night and now it's to the point I can't eat anything without the lava creeping up my throat. I've been sleeping with 3 pillows to help with the general pain and the reflux. It's helped somewhat. Let's see.. I'm also having vivid dreams of me going out and eating massive amounts of pizza and burgers- that could be the pain meds. The relief I feel when I realize I didn't do it is awesome.

Right now I feel hungry and tired. I've been getting about 40-50g Protein in a day and about 50 oz of fluids. Today I've barely had any. I take protonix daily-switched to night to see if it would help and it didn't- and have been taking a lot of rolaids through out the day. Milk seems to be the only thing that helps.

I'm just so miserable. My husband is in school and is working ft so I'm home alone most of the time and have to get my son to and from school. I have no family here in MD. No help at all. I'm freaking the hell out. Breaking down a lot. I knew it would be hard but I don't know.

I start puréed tomorrow. We will see if I can tolerate it.

Max weight at the start was 275.

Lost 20lbs prior to surgery 255.

I have lost 6lbs from the surgery 4/17 pretty much by starving to death.

I just need some comfort here.

Thank you,

Tiffany

(((Tiffany))) You'll get through this. Just take it one day at a time. When I get really scared I come here for support and look at Pinterest. ;)

Talk to your surgeon about the reflux...he may be able to up the dose for you. Is it possible for family to take a few days time to come and help you out? It never hurts to ask.

It gets better I promise!!!!! I am only 5 weeks out and had the same doubts you are experiencing. Let me tell you I have so much energy now and can go strong all day at work, come home and continue kicking ass then into the weekend continue beast mode on housework and entertaining.

It's almost like I'm on speed or something, I can't describe it. Barely hungry and only tired after I've absolutely spent myself completely from 7am to 10pm, then I sleep like a baby and wake up refreshed!

The best is yet to come, you will see!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
