Sleeved with PCOS, don't want to get pregnant

Recommended Posts

I am almost 3 weeks post op sleeve. I take birth control pills to regulate my cycle but I've been spotting/bleeding on and off since my surgery almost 3 weeks ago. Is it possible my pills aren't being absorbed well enough and I could possibly end up pregnant? That is the last thing I want right now!

A lot of woman's periods are out of whack after the surgery. I've always been super regular, but even mine was late after surgery & I spotted when I shouldn't have been. You're body is just going through a lot of changes.

I think there may be some other post on this topic if you search. I remember looking for them at one point, too.

I decided to get the iud device before I started my weight loss journey, I didn't want to get pregnant before it was advised to start trying for a baby. I knew there was a girl in my group get pregnant 8 months post op, she was advising everyone to not follow her path.

Everything I've seen / heard re WLS and pregnancy says: "Use two forms of birth control after WLS to avoid becoming pregnant before reaching and maintaining your weight loss goal."

There's something about WLS that seems to make women of child-bearing age more fertile. Dunno how it works. But it sure seems to work that way.

Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
