All - I don't know if this is where to ask this... but does the immense pressure in your chest after eating just a couple of bites of anything followed (or may in sync with) the extreme discomfort in your esophagus of spasms and the constant feeling like you have to belch but can't ever go away? (or is it just me??)

Almost every time I eat, I battle this. About 50-60% of the time I throw whatever I ate back up again. I am quickly getting to dread eating now.

I've added 1 priolsec a day and I've been using the Natural Brand Super Digestive Enzymes for over a month. These both help... it's 100% throw up if I don't use them. But dang! This is miserable.

Volume wise, I'm eating about 1 hard boiled egg (or fried with the grease wiped off) OR 1/3-1/2 a chicken thigh (these new tiny mini chickens they are selling in Arkansas...weird little things) etc. I'm definitely not eating large volumes of anything.

And I'm a little concerned that there is no way I'm getting the amount of Protein or any other nutrient I'm supposed to be having. It is a little like controlled, numbed starvation. I mean... I don't feel hungry... but I am pretty sure I'm not getting what I"m supposed to have.

Yeah, no.

This isn't normal.

You might have a stricture (twisting) of your stomach, making it hard for food to get through.

Time to see your surgeon again.

You'd get more replies starting a separate thread in the post op forum, but all that vomiting is NOT normal so please contact your surgeon.

The feeling of no/low hunger IS normal at the phase you are at. I ate like food was a prescription at that time.

Hello everyone,

I decided to upgrade to VIP. I figure I'll be here for a good while, may as well join in the fun. I'm single, 44, live near Boston and work in the city. I am Auntie to three great kiddos and Godmother to them all. I had my surgery on 8/17 and as of today I am halfway (well I'm .2 lbs off so I'm rounding up!) to my weight loss goal.

I am looking forward to ziplining next Spring, going on a ropes course, and doing all sorts of outdoor stuff that I wouldn't (and couldn't) do at 295lbs!

Thanks Jamielogical :) I'm feeling pretty good about it. I see you made goal - how is maintenance going for you? I have a feeling that maintenance is going to be the most difficult...Would you mind if I asked you, what size are you at 164? My goal weight is 165 and I am 5'10" so I'm trying to judge what size that MIGHT be.

So far the only "problem" I've been having with maintenance is that I'm still losing weight. I hit goal the day before my one year surgiversary back on Sept. 1, so it's only been two weeks, but I've lost about another pound and a half since then.

I carry ALL my weight in my hips and legs (see my gallery pics) so I am still in size 12 pants. I'm a medium (maybe even a small) in tops. In dresses I'm still wearing a 10, but they are getting a little on the loose side now.

Hi all. I decided to join VIP too since I am in this for the long haul. I read a lot on here so wanted to finally say hello. :)

I'm 40, mom to two little girls, married for almost 13 years, and work from home full time as a government contractor. I had my first NUT/counseling appointment yesterday and hope to have my surgery in Feb or March...hopefully February! :)

Looking forward to talking to everyone!

What an interesting thread!

Today is my 62nd Birthday!

I had my sleeve done exactly 4 years ago this month and have been at goal weight for 3 years.

This surgery changed my life, as it has done for so many others.

But unlike most of you, I do not have children or grandchildren (by choice...long story).

I have been happily married for 24 years, but my husband and I live a poly amorous life style and we have never been happier our my lives.

I have met really interesting people on this forum and have been grateful for all of the followers of my blog, some who have become friends.

I grew up in San Francisco, lived in Hawaii for 10 years and for the last 3 I have lived in Amsterdam and have no desire to return to the US at this point.

I have an unusual life, but I have an extraordinary life that works for me.

I am thankful every day to be living a healthy life and it would never have happened without the surgery, and maybe even without this forum, as it was here that I found the support I needed to make that first step.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
