Well today is my day! I'm sitting in the Pre-op area in my gown waiting to get my IV. Surgery is scheduled for noon! Ah!

Good luck and Godspeed on your recovery.

Maybe TMI but MOM did the trick. Lol. Constipation has become a big issue for me. Anyway , feeling better.

It did the trick for me too... And thank goodness LOL

def NOT TMI for me. Im having the exact same problem today. I had some Miralax last night, and things haven't, shall we say, progressed as I'd hoped. Have terrible nausea and headache now, making it hard to small my Protein Shake and fluids this am. I just know We'll get on the other side of these issues soon, and have more good days then bad. ;)

It's 3am, woke up at 1:30am with pain in my lower abdomen and feeling really nauseous. Can't sleep , what is going on. I get one good day then 2 or 3 not so good days. Not sure what I should do.

So sorry you are having pain!! Are you going to call your surgeon? Maybe you need to do liquid diet for a day or two. Maybe your body needs more healing time.

@@Salonboi, I think read earlier that you are using a Bariatric Eating app? Can you give me any more info on that? Does it send you prompts on when to actually put fork in mouth? I know that I am still struggling with eating too fast. This sort of app, if I'm not imagining it, sounds like just what I need.

@@Salonboi, my energy level is still a bit low at nearly 3 weeks post-op. Yesterday was my first day back to work. The morning went fine, but the afternoon was rough. After about 4:00 I could not keep my eyes open! I was hoping to stop at the gym on my way home (like I used to do before the liquid diet), but I just couldn't do it. Tonight is my surgeon's support group. I'm hoping to make it through that!

I went to my support group last night, and was glad I did. There were only 2 of us that were post-op, and boy did they have questions lol. I only stayed out 9 days, so I know what you mean by being tired. I noticed getting up and moving really and truly made it so much better. It got my mind out of recovery mode to being a new me. I also use a sublingual B complex. That B12 helps a lot. Good luck ????

@@Salonboi what dosage of B12 and how frequently do you take it? My doctor has me on 1,000 mcg only 2x-3x per week. Before surgery I would take a B-complex every day.

Abdomen became so painful , went to ER. ( believe me, for me to go to ER, you know I'm in a lot of pain)

Anyway, they did blood work, urine test and cat scan of abdomen.

Diagnosis: diverticulitis. Home on antibiotics. So relieved that it's isn't a surgery complication. Not happy with diverticulitis but could be worse.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
